Botswana - Travelers might think of the country as miles and miles of flat, almost desolate and above all dry bushland. However, to the north lies the Okavango Delta, with its gloriously green and fertile plains that flow directly into the Kalahari Desert, creating a unique natural ecosystem - home to numerous plants and animals. Almost a quarter of this country consists of game reserves, which are among the best in Africa.
DAY 1: ARRIVAL - MAUN LODGE
On arrival at Maun Airport, you will meet your guide and be driven to Drifters Maun Lodge. The cozy lodge is situated on the Boteti River. From your fixed tent you can enjoy a magnificent view over the river. In the afternoon, you have time to go for a swim in the pool, relax or simply enjoy the surroundings. In the evening, a delicious meal awaits you at the lodge. (Dinner)
DAY 2 - 4: MOREMI
After a hearty breakfast at the lodge, you will set off with your guide in the well-equipped 4×4 vehicle to the famous Moremi Game Reserve, where you will camp for the next two nights. You will stay in private camps in the middle of nature, where you will have the feeling that only you exist in the world.
When you leave your camp again, you will only be able to recognize that you have camped here by your footprints.
The Moremi Game Reserve lies in the heart of the Okavango Delta. At 1600 km long, the Okavango is the third largest river in southern Africa and is one of the most remarkable bodies of water in the world. Its special feature: this mighty river does not find a way into the sea, but instead pours into the sandy Kalahari, forming the largest inland delta in the world.
The Moremi Game Reserve has a lot to offer: gentle, loosened tree savannahs with marshy lagoons, charming forest islands and a remarkable wealth of species, including the Big Five. The area can be visited all year round (the months from April to July are climatically pleasant). The months from July to October/November are considered the best time for game viewing. Water birds breed in the delta in September and October. From around November, when the rains begin, the game disperses. The wild animals that are now raising their young are difficult to spot during the rainy season, depending on the intensity of the rainfall. There may also be restrictions because many sections of road become very soft and muddy after heavy rainfall. Exciting game drives await you. (3x breakfast, 3x lunch, 3x dinner)
DAY 5: MAUN LODGE
After a relaxing morning in the park, you make your way back to Drifters Maun Lodge, where you say goodbye to your guide. You arrive at the lodge in the afternoon. Here you have time to swim in the pool or explore the area around the lodge. You will enjoy your last dinner in the lodge restaurant. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner)
DAY 6: DEPARTURE
On your last morning you will have a delicious breakfast before heading back to the airport. (Breakfast)
