ABOUT THIS TRIP
On this three-week rental car tour, you will experience the contrasting Namibia! You start with the highlights of Namibia's north, such as the Waterberg and Etosha National Park, and continue to the wildlife-rich Caprivi Strip, where you will experience Namibia in a completely different way, passing through Namibia's most water-rich area with four large rivers, many small villages with livestock - everything is green and lively here. You will also visit Chobe National Park and Victoria Falls. Individual changes to the tour itinerary or the rental car category are possible on request, we will be happy to send you a personalized offer. Note: An SUV vehicle with a higher wheelbase is generally recommended, as there are many gravel tracks and unpaved roads. WINDHOEK
Welcome to the capital. Windhoek is the economic and political center of Namibia. The city is situated in the Windhoek Basin, the approximate geographical center of the country, bordered by the Eros Mountains in the east, the Auas Mountains in the south and the Khomas Highlands in the west. The name Windhoek is Afrikaans and is derived from "windy corner".
The colonial past and the influence of the German language and culture can be felt in many areas. Worth seeing are the monumental Supreme Court building, the Namibian National Museum in the "Alte Feste", the Christuskirche, the "Tintenpalast" parliament building and much more.
The House on Olof Palme is located in an upmarket and quiet part of Windhoek near the Erosberg mountains. The house is lovingly and personally managed by the owners. The pool in the green courtyard is a wonderful place to relax. (7 rooms: bath/WC, TV, W-Lan, minibar, air conditioning, safe and private entrance. DAY 2 TO DAY 3 (APPROX. 255 KM):
OTJIWARONGO
The Waterberg is a striking table mountain located between Windhoek and Etosha Park. It is about 48 kilometers long and 15 kilometers wide and towers almost 200 meters above its surroundings. Today, the 40,500-hectare Waterberg plateau and its surroundings are a national park where you can go on guided hikes and game drives. The wildlife and the sun's play of colors on the Waterberg are breathtaking. The nature reserve, in particular the plateau, provides a habitat for the reintroduced white and black rhino, African buffalo, sable, roan and lyre antelope as well as leopards and cheetahs.
The Waterberg became the mountain of destiny for the Herero on August 10, 1904. The Herero uprising was crushed by the Germans on this day. The military cemetery at the foot of the mountain can still be visited today.
The 17,000-hectare farm was built in the style of a traditional Ovambo homestead using natural stone, wood and reed. Palisades made of high, pointed wooden poles surround the lodge and convey a feeling of security in the middle of the African bush. Activities such as game drives or hikes are offered on site for a fee (English-speaking and with other participants). (12 rooms: bath/WC, air conditioning, fridge, hairdryer, telephone, TV, kettle. Lodge: restaurant, pool, viewing deck, fire pit, garden)

In the dry months from May to October, many animals, especially the large herds, gather along the river to quench their thirst or to bathe. During the rainy season, from November to April, when the water is also in the seasonal pans, the wild animals spread throughout the national park. This is a great time for birdwatchers, as many migratory birds can be seen at the water's edge alongside the local birds. In November and December, the young animals are born and with the onset of rain, the park blossoms with beautiful wildflowers.
