ABOUT THIS TRIP
Discover the highlights from Cape Town to Addo Elephant Park. The Mother City Cape Town is rightly one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The Winelands are home to first-class wineries and restaurants. Seasonally, you can spot whales near Hermanus. The Little Karoo semi-desert with the "ostrich capital" Oudtshoorn offers great scenic highlights. Around Knysna there are beautiful stretches of coastline and pristine forests. Last but not least, embark on a malaria-free safari in the Addo Elephant Park.
Our chauffeur-driven tours can start daily and are as individual as rental car tours, with the difference that you don't have to drive yourself. Private English-speaking transfers take you from station to station where you can take part in English-speaking activities and excursions. Our chauffeur-driven tours can start from two people, but are also ideal for larger groups (e.g. families, friends) who want to keep to themselves. We are happy to modify this tour itinerary according to your individual wishes. Please contact us for your personalized offer. We recommend starting this tour in the South African summer from September to April.

FULL DAY PRIVATE CAPE TOWN CITY SPLENDOUR
You will be picked up from your accommodation in the morning by your private English-speaking tour guide. You set off on a day trip to the highlights of the Mother City, Cape Town. In addition to the most important historical events, you will learn about the locals' love for their food. For example, you will taste locally produced bread, cheese, sausage, coffee, ice cream and cakes.
At lunchtime, the journey takes you out into the scenic vineyards of Stellenbosch. You will stop at two hand-picked wine estates to get an overview of the diverse South African wine selection during wine tastings under expert guidance. On request, your guide will recommend a nice restaurant for a lunch stop (lunch optional). You will be dropped off at your accommodation in the afternoon.

DAY 6 TO DAY 7:
HERMANUS
The tour continues to the "whale capital" of South Africa, Hermanus. Here you have the best opportunities to watch whales from the coast between June and November. Of course, you can also take a boat trip out to sea to get even closer to the largest mammals on earth. But Hermanus also has a lot to offer outside the whale season in the South African summer. There are excellent beaches, great restaurants and the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, a unique nature reserve with typical fynbos vegetation and many hiking trails. Even winegrowing has now left its insider status here in the Coastal Region. Over 30 wineries have joined together to form various wine routes.
The Hermanus Boutique Guesthouse is located on the famous Cliff Path and within walking distance of the small town center with many restaurants and shopping opportunities. The guesthouse has a large lounge and breakfast area as well as a cozy courtyard with pool and sun loungers. The 18 rooms have a bathroom/WC (some have an open bathroom solution with separate WC), a TV, air conditioning, a tea/coffee maker, a minibar, a safe and free WiFi. The Standard Rooms are located in the main building and measure around 30 sqm. The Luxury Pool View Rooms, which are approximately 30 m² in size, are located in an adjoining building next to the pool area. The 40 sqm Honeymoon Suites are located on the second floor of the main building and have a balcony with sea view. DAY 6: HERMANUS
BOAT-BASED WHALE WATCHING INCL. PICK-UP
OPTIONALLY BOOKABLE FROM 115 € PER PERSON
In the South African winter months from June to November, you have the best chance of spotting Southern Right Whales (right whales) and Humpback Whales (humpbacks) in Walker Bay near Hermanus. You can get within 50 meters of these gigantic marine mammals by boat. This is an experience that no one should miss, especially if the whales are not directly on the coast. If you are lucky, you may also spot dolphins, penguins, sharks and seals during the trip.
The trip takes about two hours and starts at New Harbour in Hermanus. You will be picked up at your accommodation in good time by transfer and then dropped off there again. The tour is in English and is conducted with additional people. A small refreshment is included in the price. We recommend booking this activity in advance, especially in the popular months of October and November, as places on the boat are limited and may be fully booked on site. If the trip has to be canceled at short notice due to weather conditions, we will refund the price after your trip.
This service can be booked for an additional charge.
DAY 7: HERMANUS

DAY 7 TO DAY 8:
OUDTSHOORN
Oudtshoorn is the jewel of the Little Karoo semi-desert and the largest town along Route 62. The C.P. Nel Museum in the town center explains the history of the town and its rise to become the "ostrich capital" of South Africa. A stop at one of the local ostrich farms is a must, where you can learn a lot about the largest birds in the world and admire the historic ostrich palaces. The Cango Caves, one of the most impressive stalactite caves in the world, are definitely worth a visit. The adventurous with the right vehicle can take a drive over the famous Swartberg Pass, but guided tours are also available. An insider tip is the Rust en Vrede waterfall, located to the east of the Cango Caves. Clear nights with little light pollution make for an impressive starry sky. On several farms, you can discover the cute meerkats early in the morning on guided tours. Some interesting wineries, such as the Karusa Estate, offer wine tastings.
De Zeekoe Farm is situated about 7 km outside of Oudtshoorn with a view of the surrounding mountain ranges. There are ostrich farms nearby and the Cango Caves are about a 30-minute drive away. Meerkat tours take place on the premises (optional with advance booking). The guest house offers a large garden with pool, a restaurant and a spa area (for a fee). The 21 rooms have a bathroom/WC, air conditioning, a minibar, a tea/coffee maker, a safe, a veranda and free WiFi. The Standard Rooms have a garden view. DAY 8: OUDTSHOORN
OUDTSHOORN TO KNYSNA PRIVATE DAY TOUR
You will be picked up at your accommodation in Oudtshoorn at 10:30 am. A stop at a local ostrich farm is the first stop on the program. Oudtshoorn is the ostrich capital of South Africa. Here you will learn a lot about the rearing of the largest flightless birds in the world.
Continue to the Karusa Wine Estate, where you can taste up to five of the locally produced wines. For those less interested in wine, the estate also has its own brewery with interesting craft beers (all tastings optional). Afterwards, you have the opportunity to have lunch at the winery (lunch optional). The winery is closed on Sundays and public holidays, when an alternative program takes place.
Your next stop is the Cango Caves, a unique stalactite cave landscape located just outside Oudtshoorn in the idyllic Schoemanshoek Valley. Here you embark on a fairly easy guided tour through huge caves and narrow passages (no climbing or crawling).
You leave the arid semi-desert and continue along the green coast to Wilderness, where you make a short photo stop at the beautiful beach. The drive continues along the beautiful coastline of Wilderness and Sedgefield with its beautiful lake landscapes and dense forests in the hinterland. You will be dropped off at your accommodation in Knysna at around 17:30.
The tour language is English, no other people take part. The entrance fees for the Cango Caves and the ostrich farm are included in the tour price. The wine or beer tasting and lunch are not included in the tour price.
DAY 8 TO DAY 11:
KNYSNA
Knysna, with its striking lagoon, is the center of the Garden Route and offers a wide range of daytime activities. The dense forests in the hinterland or the beautiful coastal sections are ideal for hiking, the nearby beaches for swimming and relaxing. Boat trips are offered on the lagoon. From June to November, you may be lucky enough to spot whales. The town itself and the small waterfront with its cafés, stores and boutiques also invite you to stroll and linger.
You will stay in the historic and lovingly restored Parkes Manor Guest House, a stately home in a 12000 square meter park-like garden overlooking the lagoon. The waterfront or the center of Knysna can be reached in about 15 minutes on foot or a few minutes by car. The nine individually furnished suites all have a shower/WC with separate bathtub, a TV, tea/coffee making facilities, air conditioning, a minibar and a safe. The Cozy Suite is located on the first floor and has a private courtyard without a view. The Standard Suites are located on the first floor at the rear of the building and have a balcony. The Lagoon View Suites are also located on the first floor and have a balcony with a view over the garden and the lagoon. The spacious Grand Suite is located on the first floor and has a four-poster bed, a double shower in the bathroom and a private courtyard without a view. This suite is also used as a honeymoon suite or family suite with two extra single beds. The guest house offers free Wi-Fi, a fireplace lounge, a restaurant, a bar, an outdoor veranda with lagoon view, a large garden with pool, a summer pavilion, a golf tee with putting green and secure parking on the premises.

DAY 9: KNYSNA
KNYSNA PRIVATE HALF DAY TOUR
You will be picked up at your accommodation in Knysna and set off on a private half-day tour to the highlights of the area. The first stop is Brenton-On-Sea, from where you have a unique view of the lagoon and the expansive beach of Buffalo Bay. The tour continues around the Knysna lagoon to the Eastern Head, the eastern mountain peak that towers above the narrow connection between the lagoon and the open sea. You can also enjoy fantastic views from here. You then drive to the center of Knysna with its tranquil waterfront. Optionally, you can take part in a boat trip, visit some of the historic buildings and museums or take part in tastings of local specialties such as wine, beer, gin or oysters. After about four hours, you will be dropped off at your accommodation.
The tour language is English, no other people take part. Food, drinks, entrance fees and other costs are not included in the tour price and will be paid by you on site, if desired. This tour can be started at 9:00 am and 2:00 pm.
DAY 10: KNYSNA
CULTURE AND NATURE EXPERIENCE
OPTIONALLY BOOKABLE FROM 115 € PER PERSON
You will take part in the following two activities during your stay in Knysna:
You take part in a guided hike in the Robberg Nature Reserve, which is considered the most spectacular coastal hiking area on the entire Garden Route. You will always have great views of the sea and, with a bit of luck, you may spot seals, dolphins, sharks or even whales (seasonal). You will embark on a moderate circular walk lasting around two and a half hours and have the opportunity to enjoy the fantastic surroundings time and again (privately guided, pick-up from your accommodation, sturdy shoes, appropriate clothing and sun protection).
Together with a qualified guide and a local resident, you will take a guided tour into the township of Knysna. Here you will learn a lot about the history of the black and colored inhabitants of South Africa, from the times of apartheid to the present day. The tour itinerary varies depending on the day of the week and time of day. For example, the program may include short visits to small stores, a school, a kindergarten, a shebeen (local pub) or the library. You will get to know the people and their culture and will certainly leave one or two preconceptions behind you (with other people, pick-up at your accommodation).
Both activities are in English. Conservation fees for the hike are included in the price, meals and other personal expenses are not included.
This service can be booked for an additional charge.
DAY 11: KNYSNA
KNYSNA TO TSITSIKAMMA PRIVATE DAY TOUR
You will be picked up at your accommodation in Knysna at 9 am. The drive heads east along beautiful stretches of coastline and through dense forests to the western part of the Tsitsikamma National Park. The beautiful Natures Valley is characterized by untouched stretches of beach. You take a walk in a paradisiacal setting, where the Groot River flows into the Indian Ocean.
Continue to the impressive Bloukrans Bridge, which offers the highest commercial bungee jump in the world. With a bit of luck, you can watch daring adventurers jump into the depths. Here you also have the opportunity to fortify yourself with an optional lunch. Your next stop is the famous Big Tree, a Yellowwood tree over 800 years old and almost 40 meters high, a worthy representative of the original tree population in the Tsitsikamma National Park.
The last stop is the mouth of the Storms River on the rugged rocky coast in the east of the national park. Here you take a short and relatively easy hike to the famous Suspension Bridge, an almost 80m long suspension bridge over the Storms River, one of the most popular photo opportunities in the region. If time permits, you can take a short boat trip on the river (optional). You will be dropped off at your accommodation in the Tsitsikamma at around 16:00.
The tour language is English, no other people take part. The entrance fees (conservation fees) are already included in the tour price. Lunch and the boat trip are not included in the tour price.
DAY 11 TO DAY 12:
TSITSIKAMMA
The Tsitsikamma National Park is the largest contiguous forest area in South Africa and ideal for hiking or relaxing. The hiking trails always offer fantastic views of the dense forests and the endless sea. At the Storms River Restcamp in the eastern part of the park, you can take short boat trips on the river of the same name. The famous Bloukrans Bridge, which offers the highest bungee jump in the world, is also very close by. The western part, the Natures Valley, also offers the best swimming and hiking opportunities. Whales and dolphins are not rare guests.
The Tsitsikamma Village Inn is located directly in the small village of Storms River, surrounded by the beautiful Tsitsikamma National Park. The accommodation was built in the style of a small village and consists of several buildings spread across the extensive grounds. The famous Big Tree, an 800-year-old Yellowwood tree with a trunk circumference of nine meters and a height of almost 40 meters, is about a 20-minute walk away. The Storms River Restcamp is about 15 minutes' drive away. All 41 rooms have a bathroom/WC, a tea/coffee maker, air conditioning, a TV and free WiFi. The accommodation offers a garden, a pool, two restaurants, a bar, a café and a microbrewery.

DAY 12 TO DAY 14:
ADDO
Your destination is the malaria-free Addo Elephant Park in the Eastern Cape, famous for its large herds of elephants, which have given the park its name. But the Addo has much more to offer: Thanks to land acquisitions, it now stretches all the way to the coast and therefore boasts the only "Big 7" national park, which offers whale and shark sightings as well as lions, buffalo, elephants, rhinos and leopards.
You will spend the night at the comfortable Addo Wildlife Lodge in the small town of Addo, just a few kilometers from the famous Addo Elephant Park. The grounds are home to springbok and other small game. There is a pool, a playground for children, a fire pit, a wildlife center with birds and reptiles, a farm store, a restaurant and a bar. The 17 rooms have a bathroom/WC, air conditioning, a tea/coffee maker, a TV, a minibar and a veranda with seating. The Standard Rooms are detached rondavels furnished in African style. The Superior Chalets, which are also detached, are more spacious and furnished in a modern style. The Superior Family Chalets have two separate bedrooms, each with its own bathroom/WC and a lounge with kitchenette.
On the day of arrival, you will take part in an approximately two-hour game drive in an open off-road vehicle into the private Addo Wildlife Reserve, followed by dinner under the stars by the river (weather permitting). On the second day, you will take part in an approximately four-hour game drive in an open off-road vehicle in the Addo Elephant Park. Both activities are in English and can be done with additional people. Conservation fees are already included in the price.

DAY 12 TO DAY 14:
GREATER ADDO
OPTIONALLY UPGRADEABLE FROM 305 € PER PERSON
The private Amakhala Game Reserve is located near the Addo Elephant Park in a malaria-free environment. The reserve is home to the Big Five, i.e. lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo and rhinos, as well as many other African wild animals. The 8500-hectare reserve on the Bushmans River offers a beautiful landscape typical of the Eastern Cape. In contrast to the state-run Addo Elephant Park, only overnight guests have access to the private reserves. These are therefore much better suited for a short stay for unique game viewing. The small lodges also offer a very personal atmosphere. Specially trained rangers ensure a first-class nature experience.
Woodbury Lodge in the Amakhala Game Reserve is stunningly situated on a hillside with great views of the Bushmans River and the valley. It offers you an intimate and peaceful experience in the typical Eastern Cape bush (known as "riverine bushveld"). The lodge consists of seven brick and thatched chalets, all with en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning, mini-bar, tea/coffee making facilities, safe and private verandah. The family chalets have an additional room with two single beds. The communal area of the lodge offers a pool with sun loungers, a viewing deck, a lounge area, a boma (traditional campfire area) and free Wi-Fi.
For each overnight stay you take part in two guided game drives in an open off-road vehicle (English-speaking, participation with other people), which take place in the afternoon before dinner and in the morning before breakfast.
This service can be booked for an additional charge.
