DAY 1 TO DAY 4:
PILANESBERG
The malaria-free Pilanesberg National Park is located around two and a half hours' drive northwest of Johannesburg. The 55,000 hectare park is almost circular and encompasses the area of a 1200 million year old volcanic crater with a small lake in the center. The extremely scenic terrain lies in the transition zone between the dry Kalahari and the wetter lowveld, so both types of vegetation can be found here. The park is home to the Big Five and many other African wild animals.
You will spend the night at the Black Rhino Game Lodge, which is situated in a private part of the northwest of the park that is only accessible to overnight guests. The 23 detached suites are furnished in modern African style and equipped with a bathroom/WC, air conditioning, minibar, TV, safe, tea/coffee making facilities and a veranda with outdoor shower. The Deluxe Suites also have their own plunge pool or hot tub on the veranda. The lodge offers a bar, a restaurant, a boma (traditional campfire dining area), three plunge pools, a viewing deck overlooking a waterhole and free Wi-Fi.
You take part in two guided game drives per night in an open off-road vehicle, which take place in the afternoon before dinner and in the morning before breakfast (English-speaking, conducted with additional persons).

DAY 4: JOHANNESBURG
ONEWAY FLIGHT TO GEORGE
A domestic or regional flight is the fastest and most convenient way to cover longer distances in southern Africa. Thanks to various competitors, there is a dense network of scheduled flights to a total of more than 25 airports. All local airlines fly with modern aircraft that meet the highest safety standards and are of course regularly maintained, just like in Europe.
The flight is operated in Economy Class. Depending on the airline, only one piece of checked baggage weighing 20kg to 23kg and one piece of hand baggage are permitted per person. You will receive details with your travel documents. Additional baggage, seat reservations and other services can be booked at very reasonable prices. We recommend arriving at international airports such as Windhoek, Victoria Falls, Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town at least two hours before departure; at smaller regional airports, 90 minutes is sufficient.

DAY 4 TO DAY 7:
KNYSNA
Knysna, with its striking lagoon, is the center of the Garden Route and offers a wide range of daytime activities. The dense forests in the hinterland or the beautiful coastal sections are ideal for hiking, the nearby beaches for swimming and relaxing. Boat trips are offered on the lagoon. From June to November, you may be lucky enough to spot whales. The town itself and the small waterfront with its cafés, stores and boutiques also invite you to stroll and linger.
You will stay in the historic and lovingly restored Parkes Manor Guest House, a stately home in a 12000 square meter park-like garden overlooking the lagoon. The waterfront or the center of Knysna can be reached in about 15 minutes on foot or a few minutes by car. DAY 5: KNYSNA
KNYSNA TOWNSHIP TOUR
OPTIONALLY BOOKABLE FROM 45 € PER PERSON
A special cultural experience: together with a qualified guide and a local resident, you will go on a guided tour of the township of Knysna. Here you will learn a lot about the history of the black and colored inhabitants of South Africa, from the times of apartheid to the present day. The tour itinerary varies depending on the day of the week and time of day. For example, the program may include short visits to small stores, a school, a kindergarten, a shebeen (local pub) or the library. You will get to know the people and their culture and will certainly leave one or two prejudices behind you.
This excursion takes about three hours. You will be picked up and dropped off at your accommodation. In a guided tour, a township visit is absolutely safe and for most tourists one of the most impressive experiences during your trip to South Africa (English-speaking, with additional people).
This service can be booked for an additional charge.
DAY 5: KNYSNA
KNYSNA PRIVATE HALF DAY TOUR
OPTIONALLY BOOKABLE FROM 65 € PER PERSON
You will be picked up at your accommodation in Knysna and set off on a private half-day tour to the highlights of the area. The first stop is Brenton-On-Sea, from where you have a unique view of the lagoon and the expansive beach of Buffalo Bay. The tour continues around the Knysna lagoon to the Eastern Head, the eastern mountain peak that towers above the narrow connection between the lagoon and the open sea. You can also enjoy fantastic views from here. You then drive to the center of Knysna with its tranquil waterfront. Optionally, you can take part in a boat trip, visit some of the historic buildings and museums or take part in tastings of local specialties such as wine, beer, gin or oysters. After about four hours, you will be dropped off at your accommodation.
The tour language is English, no other people take part. Food, drinks, entrance fees and other costs are not included in the tour price and will be paid by you on site, if desired. This tour can be started at 9:00 am and 2:00 pm.
This service can be booked for an additional charge.
DAY 6: KNYSNA
TSITSIKAMMA PRIVATE DAY TOUR
You will be picked up at your accommodation in Knysna at 9 am. The drive heads east along beautiful stretches of coastline and through dense forests. Your first stop is the famous Big Tree, a Yellowwood tree over 800 years old and almost 40 meters high, a worthy representative of the original tree population in the Tsitsikamma National Park.
Continue to the mouth of the Storms River on the rugged rocky coast in the east of the national park. Here you will take a short and relatively easy hike to the famous Suspension Bridge, an almost 80m long suspension bridge over the Storms River, one of the most popular photo opportunities in the region. You also have the opportunity to take part in a short boat trip upstream (optional).
After a refreshing lunch (optional), the journey heads back west. You stop at the impressive Bloukrans Bridge, which offers the highest commercial bungee jump in the world. With a bit of luck, you can watch daring adventurers leap into the depths.
The drive then takes you to the western part of the Tsitsikamma National Park in the beautiful Natures Valley, which is characterized by dense forests and untouched stretches of beach. You take a walk in a paradisiacal setting, where the Groot River flows into the Indian Ocean. Your driver will drop you off at your accommodation at around 5 pm.
The tour language is English, no other people take part. The entrance fees (conservation fees) are already included in the tour price. Lunch and the boat trip are not included in the tour price.
DAY 7: KNYSNA
OUDTSHOORN TO KNYSNA PRIVATE DAY TOUR

Continue to the Karusa Wine Estate, where you can taste up to five of the locally produced wines. For those less interested in wine, the estate also has its own brewery with interesting craft beers (all tastings optional). Afterwards, you have the opportunity to have lunch at the winery (lunch optional). The winery is closed on Sundays and public holidays, when an alternative program takes place.
Your next stop is the Cango Caves, a unique stalactite cave landscape located just outside Oudtshoorn in the idyllic Schoemanshoek Valley. Here you embark on a fairly easy guided tour through huge caves and narrow passages (no climbing or crawling).
You leave the arid semi-desert and continue along the green coast to Wilderness, where you make a short photo stop at the beautiful beach. The drive continues along the beautiful coastline of Wilderness and Sedgefield with its beautiful lake landscapes and dense forests in the hinterland. You will be dropped off at your accommodation in Knysna at around 17:30.
The tour language is English, no other people take part. The entrance fees for the Cango Caves and the ostrich farm are included in the tour price. The wine or beer tasting and lunch are not included in the tour price.
DAY 7 TO DAY 8:
OUDTSHOORN
Oudtshoorn is the jewel of the Little Karoo semi-desert and the largest town along Route 62. The C.P. Nel Museum in the town center explains the history of the town and its rise to become the "ostrich capital" of South Africa. A stop at one of the local ostrich farms is a must, where you can learn a lot about the largest birds in the world and admire the historic ostrich palaces. The Cango Caves, one of the most impressive stalactite caves in the world, are definitely worth a visit. The adventurous with the right vehicle can take a drive over the famous Swartberg Pass, but guided tours are also available. An insider tip is the Rust en Vrede waterfall, located to the east of the Cango Caves. Clear nights with little light pollution make for an impressive starry sky. On several farms, you can discover the cute meerkats early in the morning on guided tours. Some interesting wineries, such as the Karusa Estate, offer wine tastings.
De Zeekoe Farm is situated about 7 km outside of Oudtshoorn with a view of the surrounding mountain ranges. There are ostrich farms nearby and the Cango Caves are about a 30-minute drive away. Meerkat tours take place on the premises (optional with advance booking). The guest house offers a large garden with pool, a restaurant and a spa area (for a fee). The 21 rooms have a bathroom/WC, air conditioning, a minibar, a tea/coffee maker, a safe, a veranda and free WiFi. The Standard Rooms have a garden view. The Luxury Rooms with garden or mountain view are larger and also have a separate bathtub. The Deluxe Rooms with mountain or pool view are more modern. The Superior Rooms have either a mountain or garden view and also have a lounge area with a fireplace. There are excellent beaches, great restaurants and the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, a unique nature reserve with typical fynbos vegetation and many hiking trails. Even winegrowing has now left its insider status here in the Coastal Region. Over 30 wineries have joined together to form various wine routes.

If you are lucky, you may also spot dolphins, penguins, sharks and seals during the trip.
The trip takes about two hours and starts at New Harbour in Hermanus. You will be picked up at your accommodation in good time by transfer and then dropped off there again. The tour is in English and is conducted with additional people. A small refreshment is included in the price.
