Entry requirements

Germans and many other European nationals do not require a visa for a tourist stay of a maximum of 90 days per calendar year. A machine-readable passport must be presented upon entry. Holders of temporary passports, however, require a visa in advance. Machine-readable children's passports are also accepted for children. However, updated or extended children's passports and entries in parents' passports are not accepted.

Passports must be valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay and have at least four free pages for entry and exit stamps. All persons entering the country must be in possession of the necessary return or onward travel tickets as well as sufficient funds for their stay.

Children and young people under the age of 18 must also carry a complete international birth certificate (unabridged birth certificate) or a certified copy thereof. If children are not traveling with both biological parents, additional documents must be carried.

If you have been in a yellow fever area before entering the country, you must provide proof of a yellow fever vaccination. There is an exception for transit travelers whose transfer time does not exceed twelve hours.
