ABOUT THIS TRIP

This trip is ideal for those who don't have a lot of time and would like to combine a beach vacation with activities. In 10 days, you will experience all the highlights that the multifaceted island of Mauritius has to offer, but still have plenty of time to relax on the beautiful beaches and enjoy the views. You will be accommodated in personally selected guesthouses in the Superior category ****.
We are happy to change this tour itinerary or the rental car category according to your individual wishes. Please contact us for your personal offer. Note: A four-wheel drive vehicle is not necessary for this trip. However, we recommend a vehicle with a higher wheelbase for better driving comfort. As the signposting on the island is quite poor, we recommend that you use offline maps. Please note that we are unfortunately unable to offer this trip over Christmas/New Year's Eve, as many hotels require minimum stays during this period. We would be happy to make you a special offer for this travel period.

DAY 1: MAURITIUS

MEET & GREET

Welcome to the sunny island of Mauritius!

A member of staff from our partner agency La Maison Ojas will contact you after your arrival via Whats App (English-speaking). If necessary, she will arrange a meeting with you at your accommodation.

During your stay booked through us, she will always be your competent contact for any questions and organizational matters that may arise.

DAY 1: MAURITIUS

PRIVATE TRANSFER HOTEL - AIRPORT

This private transfer is operated by a qualified English-speaking driver. The vehicle is air-conditioned and corresponds to your private group size, there are no other passengers. The transfer company has all the necessary licenses and insurance for its vehicles and drivers to guarantee legal passenger transportation (no Uber or similar).

In the case of a transfer from your accommodation, you will be picked up at the entrance of your guesthouse, lodge or hotel at the agreed time. You will be driven to your destination and dropped off at your accommodation or at the airport.

For transfers from the airport, you will be met personally in the arrivals hall. Please look out for a person carrying a sign with your name on it. If an explicit pick-up point or meeting point is mentioned in your tour book, please go there. You will be driven to your destination and dropped off at your accommodation.

DAY 1 TO DAY 4 (APPROX. 40 KM):

BLACK RIVER

Between Le Morne and Port Louis lies this wind-protected coastal strip with miles of sandy beaches and good tourist infrastructure.

The charming The Bay Guest House is located directly on the white sandy beach of La Preuneuse on the beautiful west coast of Mauritius. The town center of Black River with its diverse shopping facilities, bars and restaurants is about a 10-minute walk away.

Guest house: a pool, bar, restaurant, sun terrace and sun loungers on the beach.
ACTIVITIES (for a fee): Snorkeling equipment, tennis, squash and archery, horse riding, kitesurfing, windsurfing, diving, water skiing, kayaks, quad tours etc. through local providers. There are also three 18-hole golf courses in the immediate vicinity. Evening entertainment with live music once a week.
16 ROOMS: Shower/WC, TV, hairdryer, telephone, air conditioning, safe, minibar, W-Lan. The superior rooms are slightly more spacious with the same facilities and also have a balcony/terrace with sea view.

The rental car will be delivered to your accommodation on day 2. The delivery fee must be paid in cash on site.

DAY 2: MAURITIUS

KAYAK DOLPHIN TOUR

OPTIONALLY BOOKABLE FROM 170 € PER PERSON

On arrival at the airport in Mauritius or at the agreed station, you will receive your rental car. This wonderful experience starts at dawn. In kayaks in Tamarin Bay, look out for dolphins and enjoy the magical moments with these cute animals. With a bit of luck, the dolphins will jump around or play with the kayaks. You can also enjoy and marvel at the sunrise.

The tour is in English, lasts about 2.5 hours and can be done with other participants from outside the group. The meeting point is at 06:00 in Tamarin Bay and the transfer from/to the accommodation can be booked on request.

DAY 3: MAURITIUS

7 WATERFALLS HIKING

The "7 Cascades Hike" takes you into the heart of Mauritius. In around 3 hours, you will hike along the various waterfalls in the magnificent greenery of the island. Along the way, you will enjoy the breathtaking views of the magnificent landscape and have the opportunity to take a dip in the cool water of the pools - so be sure to bring your swimming gear!
The excursion ends with a typical Mauritian picnic and you return to your accommodation.

The tour is in English, lasts about 3 hours and can be done with other participants from outside the group. The meeting point is at 09:30 at Henrietta bus station. The transfer from/to the accommodation can be booked on request.

DAY 4 TO DAY 7 (APPROX. 20 KM):

CHAMAREL

In the south, Mauritius shows its boisterous side. Wind and waves sometimes lash violently against the tropical coast, cloud towers chase over the steep mountain slopes, peaceful fishing villages almost make you forget the modern tourism on Mauritius. The bright green, flat sugar cane fields in front of towering, forested mountain ranges are a feast for the eyes. The varied south is ideal for panoramic tours.

The small, family-run Lakaz Chamarel Lodge is located in the southwest of the island and is surrounded by the beautiful evergreen Black River National Park. You can reach the village of Chamarel on foot in about 10 minutes. A hotel shuttle runs to the beach 3 times a day, subject to availability.

HOTEL: Relaxation lounge, a library, a bar, two swimming pools and an open-plan restaurant.
ACTIVITIES: The lodge has a small spa where massages are offered (for a fee). There are also group yoga classes 4 times a week - private classes can also be booked for a fee. There is also a small fitness room and bicycles for hire.
20 rooms: the standard rooms (approx. 50 sqm) have an open-plan bathroom with outdoor shower, hairdryer, ceiling fan, minibar, coffee/tea maker, safe, iPod docking station, telephone and a veranda with a view of the shared pool, which invites you to linger. The Superior Suites (approx. 80 sqm) are more spacious and overlook the second pool. The Mountain & Garden Pool Suites (90 sqm) have their own pool with the same facilities and the Sea View Pool Suites (105 sqm) have their own pool and sea view.

The north of Mauritius is the most popular and best developed area of the island. The landscape is dominated by flat and seemingly endless plains and gentle hills; only south of Pamplemousses do varied mountains rise up. One advantage in the north is the short distances to the tourist centers of Port Louis and Grand Baie, as well as to the island's most famous attraction, the Botanical Gardens in Pamplemousses. A pleasant climate and little wind are further advantages of this very lively region.

The luxurious boutique hotel is located in the northwest and offers a fantastic view of the lagoon. The hotel offers the perfect mix of relaxation on the nearby dream beaches of Mont Choisy and Trou aux Biches and discovery tours to the lively Grand Baie (about 4 kilometers).

The modern and elegant Constance Belle Mare Plage resort, surrounded by a tropical garden, is located on the east coast of the island. The 2 km long sandy beach offers ideal conditions for water sports enthusiasts thanks to the coral reef. The transfer time to the airport is around 60 minutes.

On this unique catamaran tour, you will sail along the east coast of Mauritius, always with a view of the beautiful beaches and the ocean.
In the early afternoon, you will sail back to Trou D'Eau Douce and disembark at around 3 pm.

CAR RENTAL CONDITIONS FROM FIRST CAR RENTAL

The following services are included in the price: unlimited free mileage, accident/theft insurance without excess (incl. tires, roof, windscreen, underbody damage), liability insurance up to 10 million euros, one spare wheel, one additional driver, local taxes and fees.

Petrol, toll, deposit, delivery and collection costs of about 500 MUR per way (payable in cash on delivery). Navigation device approx. 220 MUR per day (we recommend navigation with free offline maps), child seat (price on request).

The following services are not included in the price and may be charged locally: Delivery and collection costs on request, navigation device 120 ZAR per day (we recommend navigating with the free offline maps from Google).

To rent a vehicle, you will need a valid credit card issued to the main driver, an international driver's license and a passport. Each driver must have held a driver's license for at least two years. The deposit will be paid by credit card and will not be charged if the vehicle is returned with a full tank of fuel.

The local car rental company reserves the right to provide models of equal or higher value. The rental car mentioned is only an example of the confirmed vehicle class. The rates to be paid on the spot in MUR are determined by the local car rental company and may vary without notice.

APPROXIMATE ADDITIONAL COSTS THAT ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE

Long-haul flights to Southern Africa in Economy Class cost from EUR 900, while prices can be well over EUR 1000 in the high season. Flights in Premium Economy Class are available from 1500 EUR, in Business Class flights cost from 2500 EUR (per person for outward and return flights). All prices are average values depending on the airline and season. The actual prices at a given time depend on the number of bookings and may vary. Early booking is recommended, especially in the high season.

A liter of fuel (petrol or diesel) costs about 1 EUR. Allow around EUR 5 for fuel for this trip.

Entrance fees to national parks cost between EUR 5 and EUR 25 per person per day, depending on the size and popularity of the park. Entrance fees to museums or other attractions cost between EUR 3 and EUR 20 per person. Children under the age of 12 usually pay half price.
