It’s worth stopping here not only to catch your breath but also to sample the legendary apple pie, which is offered at a low price and has long enjoyed cult status among travelers. Your accommodations near Sesriem are beautifully situated on the edge of the Namib’s vast dune belt. Day 3: SOSSUSVLEI & DEAD VLEI
Before sunrise, you’ll set out for Namib-Naukluft National Park to experience the famous Sossusvlei dunes in the magical light of the early morning hours. As the sun slowly rises above the horizon, the landscape transforms into a spectacular interplay of light and shadow—a paradise for photographers and nature lovers. You’ll hike through the fascinating dune landscape to the surreal Dead Vlei, where centuries-old, dead acacia trees rise from the parched clay soil like silent sculptures. If you’d like, you can also climb the dune ridge—with a little stamina, you’ll reach the summit of “Big Daddy,” one of the world’s tallest dunes at about 350 meters. A picnic breakfast at the foot of the dunes rounds out this unforgettable experience. Afterward, you’ll visit Sesriem Canyon, a gorge about 30 meters deep that was carved into the rock by the Tsauchab River over millions of years. The canyon offers fascinating insights into the region’s geological history and a welcome respite from the heat in the shade of the rock walls.

Day 4: SWAKOPMUND
After breakfast, you’ll continue your journey through the impressive desert landscape of the Namib. The route takes you past the mighty Kuiseb Canyon, which once served as a natural barrier between two climate zones, and over the scenic Ghaub Pass, a fascinating contrast of rugged cliffs and endless expanses. In the afternoon, you’ll reach the charming town of Swakopmund on the Atlantic coast—a city full of contrasts, characterized by colonial architecture, a fresh sea breeze, and the Namibian way of life. During a short introductory city tour, you’ll discover some of the historic buildings, such as the Rhenish Mission Church, the imposing Hohenzollern House, the former district court, and the historic pier, which now houses a popular restaurant. Afterward, there’s time for you to explore on your own: simply follow your curiosity—in Swakopmund, you’ll encounter traces of the past around almost every corner. Small cafés, galleries, and souvenir shops invite you to linger.

Aboard a comfortable catamaran, you’ll spot seals, dolphins, and—with a little luck—pelicans or even sunfish. While you enjoy the maritime scenery, you’ll be served freshly shucked oysters from the bay and other regional delicacies—a culinary nature experience right in the middle of the water! Those who prefer to keep their feet on solid ground can join a Living Desert Tour—a fascinating desert excursion that introduces you to the secret inhabitants of the Namib. Your guide will show you the desert’s “Little Five”—including chameleons, geckos, and snakes—and explain their survival strategies in this hostile environment in a humorous and engaging way. The guides’ enthusiasm and knowledge make this tour a true highlight. Another unforgettable experience is an optional scenic flight over the Namib Desert, where you can marvel at the seemingly endless dunes, dry riverbeds, and the mysterious Sossusvlei from a bird’s-eye view—a panorama that will stay with you for a long time. Tailor the day to your liking—active, educational, or relaxing. Swakopmund offers the perfect experience for everyone.

white place”—a reference to the vast salt pan that forms the heart of the park and is surrounded by expansive savanna and bush landscapes. Thanks to the open vegetation, there are excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing: With a little luck, you’ll spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, oryx, and perhaps even lions or leopards, which tend to gather at the numerous watering holes. Your experienced guide knows the best wildlife viewing spots and, with keen intuition and expertise, will bring you up close to nature—always with the necessary respect and distance. The combination of wilderness, excitement, and vast open spaces lets you forget your everyday life and immerse yourself deeply in the world of African wildlife. The landscape changes noticeably as you make your way through the park, from open savanna to denser bushland—each region has its own character and its own animal inhabitants. In the afternoon, you’ll leave the park via the eastern Lindequist Gate and continue toward Tsumeb. At your lodge, you can wind down the day in peace and quiet.

Day 9: KHWE
In the morning, you’ll visit the Khwe Tribe’s Living Museum, which offers a fascinating glimpse into the traditional way of life of this San community. In an authentically designed museum village consisting of traditional thatched huts, you’ll gain exciting insights into prehistoric life as hunters and gatherers. Namibia’s indigenous people demonstrate their ancient craft techniques with great dedication and pride, share stories from the world of their ancestors, dance to
traditional rhythms, and let you see, hear, smell, and feel history. They place particular importance on presenting their pre-colonial culture as authentically as possible—an impressive experience that will stay with you for a long time. Afterward, your journey continues into the lush Zambezi Strip. The landscape changes noticeably: instead of dry savanna, tall trees, dense forest, and lush vegetation suddenly dominate the scene. This is thanks to the mighty Kavango River (called “Kavango” in Namibia), which brings new life to the area. Your lodging is located right on the riverbank, where, with a little luck, you can spot hippos and elephants right from the lodge’s terrace.
Overnight: Mahangu Safari Lodge or similar

In the afternoon, a completely different adventure awaits you: a game drive in Mahangu National Park, one of Namibia’s wildest and most pristine parks. In this scenically diverse area of open plains, riverbeds, and palm groves, with a little luck you’ll encounter elephants, buffalo, antelopes, and perhaps even leopards or wild dogs. A day full of contrasts—from tranquil waters to vibrant wilderness.

Today you’ll arrive at your lodge on the Chobe River, which blends beautifully into the surrounding natural landscape. The tranquility of the river and the expansive grounds immediately invite you to relax. A special experience awaits you in the afternoon: “Cast off” for a safari boat cruise on the Chobe River. As you glide across the water, with a little luck you’ll enjoy up-close encounters with wildlife. Whether elephants, buffalo, crocodiles, or hippos, the animals frequently come to the riverbanks and are especially active at dusk. With a cool gin and tonic in hand and a view of the gently flowing waters, this moment becomes an unforgettable experience. The evening winds down at the lodge with a delicious dinner as you listen to the smacking sounds of the hippos and the distinctive cry of the fish eagle—a perfect end to this memorable day.

Day 12: CHOBE & VICTORIA FALLS

But buffalo, prides of lions, and—with a little luck—rare animals like wild dogs or sable antelopes also call this place home. Your guide knows the best spots to observe and photograph the animals in their natural habitat. After the exciting safari, we’ll follow the roar of the water and the spray already visible in the distance—the first sign of Victoria Falls, which awaits us later in the day.
