ABOUT THIS TRIP

Embark on an unforgettable safari in the malaria-free Addo Elephant Park and an adjacent private Big Five game reserve. Addo is the westernmost of the state national parks and is also home to the Big Five. However, the big cats are only found in small numbers. However, nowhere else in South Africa will you find as many elephants per hectare as here. In the private game reserve, however, you have a good chance of spotting lions and cheetahs, among others.

This module is in English and can be started daily. Individual changes such as the number of overnight stays, alternative accommodation or additional activities are possible. The tour can be started from/to Cape Town or Johannesburg for an additional charge. This tour can also be combined with other of our modules by adding domestic flights or land transfers. We will be happy to provide you with a personalized offer.

DAY 1 TO DAY 3:

ADDO

Your destination is the malaria-free Addo Elephant Park in the Eastern Cape, famous for its large herds of elephants, which gave the park its name. Nowhere else in the world are there more elephants per square kilometer than here in Addo. With a bit of luck, you may also spot other representatives of the Big Five, although the big cats are only found in relatively small numbers. A classic is the Addo Dung Beetle, a dung beetle species that can only be found here.

The upmarket Woodall Country House & SPA is nestled amidst peaceful citrus gardens - about 65km from Port Elizabeth and just a stone's throw from the famous Addo Elephant Park. The guest house offers a restaurant, a bar, a beautiful garden with pool and sun terrace, a fitness center and a spa area for a fee as well as free WLAN. The eleven rooms have a shower/WC with separate bathtub and outdoor shower, air conditioning, a fridge, a tea/coffee maker, a lounge area and a private veranda. The Luxury Rooms are furnished in African style. The suites are furnished in a modern style and also have their own plunge pool on the veranda. DAY 3 TO DAY 5:

GREATER ADDO

The malaria-free Sibuya Game Reserve is probably one of the most unique safari destinations in South Africa. The Kariega River, which runs through the middle of the reserve, is particularly attractive. In combination with the nearby ocean, this naturally attracts an incredible variety of bird species: more than 400 different species have been counted to date. It is also a sanctuary for a rich variety of game species, from elephant to otter, and is of course home to the Big Five. After your arrival at the reception in Kenton-on-Sea, you will take a boat up the Kariega River to your accommodation at 12 noon. This approximately 9 km long trip is a unique experience in itself.

The Bush Lodge is the most luxurious lodge in the reserve and offers a great view of the pristine forests in the valley below. There are only four suites, which are housed in two detached chalets and all have en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers, air-conditioning, tea/coffee making facilities, a fireplace and an outdoor deck with seating. The lodge offers a viewing deck, a boma (traditional campfire dining area), a solar-heated pool and a lounge area with bar.

You will take part in two guided game drives per night in an open off-road vehicle (English-speaking, participation with other people), which take place in the afternoon before dinner and in the morning before breakfast. Alternatively, guided bush walks or activities on the Kariega River are available, some at an additional cost. Local drinks and conservation fees are already included in the price.

DAY 3 TO DAY 5:

GREATER ADDO

OPTIONALLY UPGRADEABLE FROM 235 € PER PERSON

The private Kariega Game Reserve is located about an hour's drive east of Port Elizabeth in the beautiful Eastern Cape bush landscape between Bushmans River and Kariega River. The malaria-free reserve covers almost 12,000 hectares and is home to the Big Five - elephants, lions, buffalo, rhinos and leopards - as well as many other African wild animals. In contrast to the state national parks, only overnight guests have access to the private reserves. These are therefore much better suited to a short stay for unique animal sightings. The small lodges also offer a very personal atmosphere. Specially trained rangers ensure a first-class nature experience.

Ukhozi Lodge embodies the true romance and intimacy of Africa. With its hidden location in the bush, it offers its guests a lot of privacy and a unique panoramic view of a valley. The ten luxurious detached chalet suites have a bathroom/WC, air conditioning, minibar, safe, telephone and a veranda with a view and private plunge pool. The lodge offers a restaurant, a bar, a viewing deck, a boma (traditional campfire dining area) and a pool with sun deck.

For each overnight stay you take part in two guided game drives in an open off-road vehicle (English-speaking, participation with other people), which take place in the afternoon before dinner and in the morning before breakfast.

OPTIONAL UPGRADE STARTING AT €1,835 PER PERSON

The 25,000-hectare Shamwari Private Game Reserve offers an exclusive safari experience in the malaria-free bushveld of the Eastern Cape. Unlike the state-run Addo Elephant Park, only overnight guests have access to the private game reserves. They are therefore much more suitable for short stays and unique wildlife viewing. The small lodges also offer a very personal atmosphere. Specially trained rangers ensure a first-class nature experience. Shamwari is home to the Big Five: lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and rhinos, as well as many other African wildlife species.

Bayethe Tented Lodge, built in the modern Out-Of-Africa style, is situated in the north-east of the Shamwari Game Reserve, far away from all other lodges. From a hill you have a unique view of the Eastern Cape bush landscape. The twelve freestanding semi-fixed tent suites have a bathroom/WC, air conditioning, a minibar, a tea/coffee maker, a safe, a lounge area and a viewing deck with a private plunge pool and outdoor shower. The lodge offers a restaurant, a bar, a viewing deck overlooking a waterhole, a souvenir store and free Wi-Fi.

For each overnight stay you take part in two guided game drives in an open off-road vehicle (English-speaking, participation with other people), which take place in the afternoon before dinner and in the morning before breakfast.
