CHAUFFEUR-DRIVEN HONEYMOON TRIP TO SOUTH AFRICA

South Africa is the ideal destination for a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon. There is a wide variety of romantic accommodations and activities. Experience the highlights of this beautiful country for couples in love on a stress-free trip, as you’ll bridge the long distance between the north and south with a domestic flight. For this tour, we’ve handpicked top accommodations in the Superior Plus category. Please note that most accommodations typically have only one honeymoon suite, so it’s a good idea to book early.

Would you prefer not to drive yourself but don’t need the full-service support of a private tour guide? Then our English-speaking chauffeur-driven tours are the perfect alternative. Your private chauffeur will take you from place to place, where you can then participate in guided daily activities and excursions. However, you won’t have the full-service support of a tour guide accompanying you throughout the trip. All chauffeur-driven tours can start any day and can be customized to your preferences in advance. The more people who join your chauffeur-driven tour, the lower the price per person.

DAY 1 THROUGH DAY 4: CAPE TOWN

Welcome to the Mother City. Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. To get an overview, your first excursion should be to Table Mountain. A drive along Chapmans Peak Drive, an impressive coastal road that leads past the penguin colony at Boulders Beach to the Cape of Good Hope, is also a must. On the way, you can visit the oldest wine estates on the Cape in Constantia. The V&A Waterfront is inviting with its countless stores and restaurants. The ferries to the former prison island of Robben Island also depart from here. On weekdays, you can explore the city center, the colourful Bo-Kaap district and the Company's Garden on foot without hesitation.

Located in the upscale suburb of Fresnaye, this luxurious boutique guesthouse is set in a large, well-maintained garden with two swimming pools. The famous beaches of Clifton and the Sea Point waterfront are within walking distance. The V&A Waterfront and the Table Mountain Cable Car station are about a ten-minute drive away. For an additional fee, the guesthouse offers meals, beverages, and a babysitting service. All 16 rooms feature a private bathroom, air conditioning, a minibar, a safe, tea and coffee-making facilities, a TV, and free Wi-Fi. The different room categories vary mainly in size; the Family Suites have two bedrooms.

DAY 2: FULL-DAY PRIVATE TOUR OF CAPE POINT & THE PENINSULA

Your private English-speaking tour guide will pick you up from your accommodation in the morning. You set off on a day trip to the highlights of the Cape Peninsula. Along the Atlantic suburbs of Camps Bay and Llandudno, you will reach the small harbor of Hout Bay. Here you can take a boat trip to a colony of seals (optional). Continue along the beautiful Chapmans Peak Drive (if open) towards Cape Point with the famous Cape of Good Hope. On the way you make a nice stop for a delicious lunch. If time permits, you can also visit the Cape Point Vineyard. On the way back from the Cape, the next stop is the famous penguin colony at Boulders Beach. After a short stroll through the picturesque Simons Town, the journey continues back towards Cape Town. You will be dropped off at your accommodation in the late afternoon.

This is a privately guided English-language day tour; no other guests will be joining you. The conservation fees for Cape Point and Boulders Beach are included in the price; you will pay for lunch and any optional expenses on site.

DAY 3: SUNSET TOUR

Go on a private romantic city tour for two at dusk and experience a spectacular sunset over the Atlantic Ocean and the glittering metropolis of Cape Town by night.

In the late afternoon, when the sunlight is at its best, you will be picked up at your accommodation. You set off on a short orientation tour through the city and up the slopes of Table Mountain. From here you have the perfect view of the city and the sea. As the sun goes down, you head for a sundowner spot of your choice, e.g. Signal Hill or Camps Bay beach. A glass of sparkling wine is of course also included.

The journey then continues through the glittering Mother City by night. You head for a romantic restaurant where a great menu awaits you (price for dinner optional). After dinner, you will be driven back to your accommodation.

The tour language is German, no other people take part.

DAY 4: ONE-WAY TRANSFER TO STELLENBOSCH

In the case of a transfer from your accommodation, you will be picked up at the entrance of your guesthouse, lodge or hotel at the agreed time. You will be driven to your destination and dropped off at your accommodation or at the airport.

For transfers from the airport, you will be met personally in the arrivals hall. Please look out for a person carrying a sign with your name on it. If an explicit pick-up point or meeting point is mentioned in your tour book, please go there. You will be driven to your destination and dropped off at your accommodation.

This private transfer is operated by a qualified English-speaking driver. The vehicle is air-conditioned and corresponds to your private group size, there are no other passengers. The transfer company has all the necessary licenses and insurance for its vehicles and drivers to guarantee legal passenger transportation (no Uber or similar). For long-distance transfers, toilet and catering stops are made as required (catering not included in the price).

DAY 4 THROUGH DAY 6: STELLENBOSCH

Stellenbosch is the heart of South African wine production. Countless wine estates are lined up next to each other, and you can get to know South Africa's fine wines at one or two wine tastings. The scenically impressive mountain ranges offer unique hiking opportunities. The second oldest city in the country has a beautiful historic city center with many listed buildings in the Cape Dutch architectural style. Cafés, restaurants and boutiques invite you to stroll and linger. Thanks to the local university, Stellenbosch is a very lively and young city, despite its historical background.

You will stay at the upmarket River Manor Boutique Hotel, which is centrally yet quietly located in Stellenbosch. Restaurants, cafés, boutiques and the historic town center are just a few minutes' walk away. Countless wine estates can be reached in less than 15 minutes by car. The hotel consists of two lovingly renovated classic manor houses with a total of 18 rooms, all of which have a bathroom/WC, air conditioning, a safe, a tea/coffee maker, a TV and free WiFi. The individual room categories vary mainly in size and location within the hotel. Guests can enjoy the following amenities: a well-kept garden with sun deck and two pools, a restaurant, a bar and a library.

DAY 5: FULL-DAY PRIVATE HONEYMOON HIGHLIGHTS TOUR

You will be picked up at your accommodation in the morning by your private English-speaking driver and wine expert. You set off on a romantic day trip to the wine regions of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. You will stop at very special wine estates to get to know the outstanding fine wines of the region.

The focus of this day tour is on the small and romantic boutique wineries away from mass tourism, which are particularly suitable for honeymooners. In addition to the region's famous red and white wines, you will also taste the excellent sparkling wines, some of which are produced using the champagne method.

Depending on the season, you can enjoy a leisurely picnic at a renowned vineyard in summer or stop off at one of the many great restaurants in winter.

In the afternoon, you have the option of taking part in a romantic horseback ride through the vineyards for an additional charge (prior reservation required). In the afternoon, you will either be dropped off at your accommodation.

The costs for wine tasting are already included in the price. However, the costs for lunch and other drinks as well as for the horse ride (if desired) are not included in the price. Please note that not all wineries may be open on weekdays or at certain times of the year.

This is a privately guided day tour and the program can be adapted to your individual wishes in advance. Certain special requests may lead to price surcharges.

DAY 6: ONE-WAY TRANSFER TO HERMANUS

DAY 6 TO DAY 7: HERMANUS

The tour continues to the "whale capital" of South Africa, Hermanus. Here you have the best opportunities to watch whales from the coast between June and November. Of course, you can also take a boat trip out to sea to get even closer to the largest mammals on earth. But Hermanus also has a lot to offer outside the whale season in the South African summer. There are excellent beaches, great restaurants and the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, a unique nature reserve with typical fynbos vegetation and many hiking trails. Even winegrowing has now left its insider status here in the Coastal Region. Over 30 wineries have joined together to form various wine routes.

This luxurious guest house is located on Hermanus' famous Grotto Beach with unobstructed views of the sea. In summer you can relax on the Blue Flag award-winning beach, in winter you can watch whales from your room. Several cafés and restaurants are within walking distance. The center of Hermanus is about ten minutes away by car. The modern guest house offers an outdoor terrace with sea view, a lounge area with bar and fireplace, a courtyard with pool and sun loungers as well as free WiFi. The five rooms have a bathroom/WC, a minibar, a tea/coffee maker, a safe, a fan, underfloor heating and a TV with DVD player. The Deluxe Rooms have a terrace with a limited sea view. The suites are more spacious and offer a terrace or balcony with a full sea view.

DAY 7: HERMANUS TO KNYSNA PRIVATE DAY TOUR

You will be picked up at 8:30 a.m. at your lodging in Hermanus. Your journey will first take you through the rolling hills of the Overberg region toward the majestic Langeberg Mountains.

Via the scenically stunning Tradouw Pass, you’ll reach the arid, semi-desert landscape of the Little Karoo. You’ll drive along the picturesque Route 62, whose name is no coincidence—it’s reminiscent of the famous Route 66. Along the way, you’ll stop for a light lunch (optional), ideally at Ronnie’s Sex Shop, the country’s most famous pub.

Traveling over the mighty Outeniqua Pass, you’ll leave the Little Karoo behind and return to the coast. Just before Wilderness, the most beautiful part of the Garden Route begins, where the Swart River and the Kaimans River converge in a dramatic gorge just before reaching the sea. Just a few hundred meters further on, the gorge suddenly opens up to reveal the seemingly endless beach at Wilderness, where you’ll stop briefly to take some photos.

The scenic drive continues along the Sedgefield Lake District, with its dense forests and mountain ranges in the background. Your destination is the charming coastal town of Knysna with its offshore lagoon. In the afternoon, you’ll be dropped off at your lodging.

If desired, an alternative and faster route can also be taken along National Highway N2 through small, picturesque towns such as Swellendam, Heidelberg, and Riversdale.

The tour will be conducted in English, and no other participants will be joining. Meals and optional activities are not included in the price and must be paid for by you on site, if desired.

DAY 7 THROUGH DAY 9: KNYSNA

You continue to the small town of Knysna with its famous lagoon, which is only connected to the Indian Ocean by a small strait. A boat trip on the lagoon is a real highlight. Knysna is the center of the Garden Route and offers many opportunities for daytime activities. The dense forests in the hinterland or the beautiful coastal sections are ideal for hiking, the nearby beaches for swimming and relaxing. From June to November, you may be lucky enough to spot whales. The town itself and the small waterfront with its cafés, stores and boutiques also invite you to stroll and linger.

The Lofts Boutique Hotel is located on Thesen Island, a small island connected to the Knysna mainland by a bridge. Thesen Island has a few small boutiques, vacation homes and bistros, but the majority of the island consists of private residences which are not open to the public. It is about a 15-minute walk to the Knysna waterfront and about a 20-minute walk to the town center. The hotel consists of 18 rooms with bath/WC, safe, TV, telephone, air conditioning, heating, minibar, coffee and tea making facilities. The Balcony Rooms have a balcony with a partial view of the lagoon. The Lagoon View Rooms have a view of the lagoon. The apartments have two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom/WC and a lounge area with kitchenette. The hotel offers a lounge area, a spa area (for a fee) and a sun deck with pool. Breakfast is not served directly in the hotel, but in an external café in the adjacent building.

2 NIGHTS' STAY WITH BREAKFAST

DAY 8: ROBBERG COASTAL PRIVATE HALF-DAY HIKE

You will be picked up at your accommodation in Knysna. The drive heads east towards Plettenberg Bay to the Robberg Nature Reserve. The small nature reserve forms a peninsula in front of the elongated bay of Plettenberg Bay and enjoys UNESCO World Heritage status. There are always great views of the sea and, with a bit of luck, you may spot seals, dolphins or even whales (June to November).

You set off on the approximately 5.5 km long Witsand circular hiking trail and have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful surroundings time and again. The Robberg Nature Reserve is one of the most beautiful coastal reserves on the entire Garden Route. After around four hours, you will be dropped off at your accommodation in Knysna.

The tour language is English, no other people take part. Drinking water and entrance fees are included in the tour price. This is a moderate hike, you should be sure-footed. Sturdy shoes, clothing suitable for the weather and sun protection are essential. The hike can be started at 9:00 am or 2:00 pm.

DAY 8: BELLA LUNA SUNSET CRUISE

The picturesque Knysna Lagoon, with its narrow opening to the Indian Ocean, is one of the highlights of the Garden Route. Only a few boats are permitted to pass through the two “heads” out into the open sea. Aboard the catamaran Bella Luna, you’ll explore both the lagoon and the cliffs that line its shores. Along the way, with a little luck, you can spot waterfowl, seals, dolphins, and, seasonally, whales. The special highlight is the sunset, which bathes the scenery in shimmering shades of red and orange.

The Bella Luna is a modern, 12-meter luxury catamaran that offers all the amenities you would expect from a catamaran of this class. Its features include spacious sun decks, an indoor lounge area, a covered outdoor seating area, a fully stocked bar, and a guest restroom.

The approximately 120-minute boat tour is conducted in English, is shared with other passengers, and departs from the Sirocco Jetty on Thesen Island (you must make your own way there). A glass of sparkling wine is included in the price. Shoes are not permitted on the boat; they can be left at the jetty before boarding. Depending on weather conditions, the trip out to the open sea may not be possible; in that case, the boat will sail only on the lagoon.

DAY 9: KNYSNA TO TSITSIKAMMA PRIVATE DAY TOUR

You will be picked up at your accommodation in Knysna at 9 am. The drive heads east along beautiful stretches of coastline and through dense forests to the western part of the Tsitsikamma National Park. The beautiful Natures Valley is characterized by untouched stretches of beach. You take a walk in a paradisiacal setting, where the Groot River flows into the Indian Ocean.

Continue to the impressive Bloukrans Bridge, which offers the highest commercial bungee jump in the world. With a bit of luck, you can watch daring adventurers jump into the depths. Here you also have the opportunity to fortify yourself with an optional lunch. Your next stop is the famous Big Tree, a Yellowwood tree over 800 years old and almost 40 meters high, a worthy representative of the original tree population in the Tsitsikamma National Park.

The last stop is the mouth of the Storms River on the rugged rocky coast in the east of the national park. Here you take a short and relatively easy hike to the famous Suspension Bridge, an almost 80m long suspension bridge over the Storms River, one of the most popular photo opportunities in the region. If time permits, you can take a short boat trip on the river (optional). You will be dropped off at your accommodation in the Tsitsikamma at around 16:00.

The tour language is English, no other people take part. The entrance fees (conservation fees) are already included in the tour price. Lunch and the boat trip are not included in the tour price.

DAY 9 TO DAY 10: TSITSIKAMMA

The Tsitsikamma National Park is the largest contiguous forest area in South Africa and is ideal for hiking or relaxing. The hiking trails always offer fantastic views of the dense forests and the endless sea. At the Storms River Restcamp in the eastern part of the park, you can take short boat trips on the river of the same name. The famous Suspension Bridge, a suspension bridge over the river, is also located here. Various long hiking trails start directly at the camp. The western part, the Natures Valley, also offers beautiful nature and the best hiking opportunities. With a bit of luck, you can even spot whales (seasonal) and dolphins from land.

You will spend the night at The Fernery Lodge in a private nature reserve just east of the Storms River. From the lodge you have a breathtaking view over the Indian Ocean, the gorge of the Sanddrift River and the dense forests. There are seven lodge rooms in the main building and 13 detached chalets set slightly apart, all of which have en-suite bathrooms, a TV, minibar and tea/coffee making facilities. The Premier Suite has a fireplace and a deck with sea views. The Premier Rooms have a deck overlooking the gorge or the sea. The Lodge Rooms have a veranda with access to the garden. The Chalets have a veranda with barbecue facilities and a lounge area with kitchenette and fireplace. In addition to the double bed, the Family Chalets have two single beds for children under the age of 16. The twin units have two separate bedrooms, each with its own bathroom/WC and private plunge pool on the veranda. The accommodation offers a lounge area, a bar, a restaurant, a pool, a jacuzzi, a sauna and free Wi-Fi. Various hiking trails start right outside the door. Mountain bikes can be rented for a fee.

DAY 10: ONE-WAY FLIGHT TO NELSPRUIT

A domestic or regional flight is the fastest and most convenient way to cover longer distances in southern Africa. Thanks to various competitors, there is a dense network of scheduled flights to a total of more than 25 airports. All local airlines fly with modern aircraft that meet the highest safety standards and are of course regularly maintained, just like in Europe.

The flight is operated in Economy Class. Depending on the airline, only one piece of checked baggage weighing 20kg to 23kg and one piece of hand baggage are permitted per person. You will receive details with your travel documents. Additional baggage, seat reservations and other services can be booked at very reasonable prices. We recommend arriving at international airports such as Windhoek, Victoria Falls, Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town at least two hours before departure; at smaller regional airports, 90 minutes is sufficient.

DAY 10: ONE-WAY TRANSFER TO HAZYVIEW

In the case of a transfer from your accommodation, you will be picked up at the entrance of your guesthouse, lodge or hotel at the agreed time. You will be driven to your destination and dropped off at your accommodation or at the airport.

For transfers from the airport, you will be met personally in the arrivals hall. Please look out for a person carrying a sign with your name on it. For long-distance transfers, toilet and catering stops are made as required (catering not included in the price).

DAY 10 THROUGH DAY 12: HAZYVIEW

Hazyview is ideally located between the scenically unique Panorama Route and the world-famous Kruger Park. From here you can take day trips to the Blyde River Canyon, the Bourkes Luck Potholes and various waterfalls as well as to the Big Five and all other African wildlife. It is also possible to discover the highlights of the Panorama Route or the Kruger Park on the way to or from the private game reserves.

The upscale accommodation The Zarafa is located in the middle of beautiful bushveld near Hazyview, very close to the Kruger Park and the attractions of the Panorama Route. You stay in one of five private Asian-style villas, which are equipped with a bathroom/WC, air conditioning, a minibar, a TV, a safe, a tea/coffee maker, a lounge area with a fireplace and an outdoor terrace with a private plunge pool and views of the natural surroundings. One villa has two separate bedrooms. The accommodation offers a restaurant, a bar, a spa area (for a fee) and free WiFi.

DAY 11: FULL-DAY PANORAMA ROUTE PRIVATE TOUR

You’ll take part in a privately guided day tour of the highlights of the Panorama Route. Of course, the world-famous Blyde River Canyon is on the itinerary, including breathtaking views of the Three Rondawels and the Lowveld. You’ll also discover the Bourkes Luck Potholes, as well as God’s Window. In the charming little town of Graskop, you’ll have the opportunity to have lunch and visit a few souvenir stands. The region is known for its countless waterfalls, and you’ll visit Berlin Falls and Lisbon Falls.

You will be picked up at your lodging in the morning (please note the exact pickup time on your voucher) and dropped off there again afterward. The tour lasts about eight hours. Admission fees for the listed attractions and lunch are optional and must be paid by you on site. The tour is conducted in English, and no other participants will be joining you. DAY 12 THROUGH DAY 14: HOEDSPRUIT

Your destination is the private Karongwe Game Reserve in Kruger National Park, which is home to the Big Five as well as all other African wildlife. In contrast to the state-run Kruger Park, only overnight guests have access to the private reserves. These are therefore much better suited to a short stay for unique game viewing. The small lodges also offer a very personal atmosphere. Specially trained rangers ensure a first-class nature experience.

The spacious Karongwe River Lodge on the Makhutsi River consists of only eleven detached chalet suites, all with fantastic views over the African bush and the northern foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains. For each overnight stay you take part in two guided game drives in an open off-road vehicle (English-speaking, participation with other people), which take place in the afternoon before dinner and in the morning before breakfast.
