You don't want to drive yourself, but a small group tour doesn't have the right start date for you and a privately guided tour is too expensive? Then our English-speaking chauffeur-driven tours are just the right alternative. Your private chauffeur will take you from place to place, where you will then take part in privately guided day activities (with the exception of game viewing activities with other people). However, you do not have the all-round support of a continuous tour guide. All chauffeur-driven tours can start daily and can be adapted to your wishes at any point beforehand. DAY 1: PORT ELIZABETH

ONEWAY TRANSFER TO GREATER ADDO

In the case of a transfer from your accommodation, you will be picked up at the entrance of your guesthouse, lodge or hotel at the agreed time. You will be driven to your destination and dropped off at your accommodation or at the airport.

For transfers from the airport, you will be met personally in the arrivals hall. Please look out for a person carrying a sign with your name on it. If an explicit pick-up point or meeting point is mentioned in your tour book, please go there. You will be driven to your destination and dropped off at your accommodation.

This private transfer is operated by a qualified English-speaking driver. The vehicle is air-conditioned and corresponds to your private group size, there are no other passengers. The transfer company has all the necessary licenses and insurance for its vehicles and drivers to guarantee legal passenger transportation (no Uber or similar). For long-distance transfers, toilet and catering stops are made as required (catering not included in the price).

The 25,000-hectare Shamwari Private Game Reserve offers an exclusive safari experience in the malaria-free bushveld of the Eastern Cape. Unlike the state-run Addo Elephant Park, only overnight guests have access to the private game reserves. They are therefore much more suitable for short stays and unique wildlife viewing. The small lodges also offer a very personal atmosphere. Specially trained rangers ensure a first-class nature experience. Bayethe Tented Lodge, built in the modern Out-Of-Africa style, is situated in the north-east of the Shamwari Game Reserve, far away from all other lodges. From a hill you have a unique view of the Eastern Cape bush landscape. The twelve freestanding semi-fixed tent suites have a bathroom/WC, air conditioning, a minibar, a tea/coffee maker, a safe, a lounge area and a viewing deck with a private plunge pool and outdoor shower. The lodge offers a restaurant, a bar, a viewing deck overlooking a waterhole, a souvenir store and free Wi-Fi.

DAY 3: GREATER ADDO

GREATER ADDO TO KNYSNA PRIVATE DAY TOUR

You will be picked up at your accommodation at 11 am. The drive heads west along beautiful stretches of coastline and through dense forests into the Tsitsikamma National Park. The first stop is the mouth of the Storms River on the rugged rocky coast in the east of the national park. Here you take a short and relatively easy hike to the famous Suspension Bridge, an almost 80m long suspension bridge over the Storms River, one of the most popular photo opportunities in the region.

Continue to the impressive Bloukrans Bridge, which offers the highest commercial bungee jump in the world. With a bit of luck, you can watch daring adventurers jump into the depths. Here you also have the opportunity to fortify yourself with an optional lunch. Your next stop is the famous Big Tree, a Yellowwood tree over 800 years old and almost 40 meters high, a worthy representative of the original tree population in the Tsitsikamma National Park. In the late afternoon, you will be dropped off at your accommodation in Knysna.

The tour language is English, no other people take part. The entrance fees (conservation fees) are already included in the tour price. Lunch is not included in the tour price.

DAY 3 TO DAY 5:

KNYSNA

You continue to the small town of Knysna with its famous lagoon, which is only connected to the Indian Ocean by a small strait. A boat trip on the lagoon is a real highlight. Knysna is the center of the Garden Route and offers many opportunities for daytime activities. The dense forests in the hinterland or the beautiful coastal sections are ideal for hiking, the nearby beaches for swimming and relaxing. From June to November, you may be lucky enough to spot whales. The town itself and the small waterfront with its cafés, stores and boutiques also invite you to stroll and linger.

Kanonkop House is an owner-operated boutique guest house, which is one of the 25 Most Luxury Small Hotels in Africa and offers a fantastic view of the Knysna Lagoon. The guest house features a pool, a sun deck, an outdoor terrace, a guest lounge, and a bar. In addition to breakfast, afternoon high tea and drinks from the in-room minibar are included in the room rate. DAY 4: KNYSNA

KNYSNA PRIVATE HALF DAY TOUR

You will be picked up at your accommodation in Knysna and set off on a private half-day tour to the highlights of the area. The first stop is Brenton-On-Sea, from where you have a unique view of the lagoon and the expansive beach of Buffalo Bay. The tour continues around the Knysna lagoon to the Eastern Head, the eastern mountain peak that towers above the narrow connection between the lagoon and the open sea. You can also enjoy fantastic views from here. You then drive to the center of Knysna with its tranquil waterfront. Optionally, you can take part in a boat trip, visit some of the historic buildings and museums or take part in tastings of local specialties such as wine, beer, gin or oysters. After about four hours, you will be dropped off at your accommodation.

The tour language is English, no other people take part. Food, drinks, entrance fees and other costs are not included in the tour price and will be paid by you on site, if desired. This tour can be started at 9:00 am and 2:00 pm.

DAY 5: KNYSNA

KNYSNA TO HERMANUS PRIVATE DAY TOUR

You will be picked up at 8:30 a.m. at your accommodation in Knysna. Your scenic drive begins along the Sedgefield Lake District, with its dense forests and mountain ranges in the background. In Wilderness, you’ll make a brief photo stop where the Kaimans River and Swart River gorges meet the endless beach of the Indian Ocean.

Crossing the mighty Outeniqua Pass, you’ll leave the coast behind and enter the endless expanse of the arid Little Karoo semi-desert. You’ll drive along the picturesque Route 62, whose name bears a striking resemblance to the famous Route 66—and for good reason. Along the way, you’ll stop for a light lunch (optional), ideally at Ronnie’s Sex Shop, the country’s most famous pub.

You’ll leave Route 62 and drive over the beautiful Tradouw Pass into the Overberg region, with its endless wheat fields and the majestic Langeberg Mountains in the background. In the afternoon, you’ll return to the coast and be dropped off at your accommodation in Hermanus.

If desired, an alternative and faster route is also available along National Route N2 through small, picturesque towns such as Riversdale, Heidelberg, and Swellendam.

The tour will be conducted in English, and no other participants will be joining. Meals and optional activities are not included in the price and must be paid for by you on site, if desired.

DAY 5 TO DAY 7:

Grootbos Private Nature Reserve

The tour continues to the "whale capital" of South Africa, Hermanus. Here you have the best opportunities to watch whales from the coast between June and November. Of course, you can also take a boat trip out to sea to get even closer to the largest mammals on earth. But Hermanus also has a lot to offer outside the whale season in the South African summer. There are excellent beaches, great restaurants and the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, a unique nature reserve with typical fynbos vegetation and many hiking trails. Even winegrowing has now left its insider status here in the Coastal Region. Over 30 wineries have joined together to form various wine routes.

The Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, nestled between the Indian Ocean and the Kleinriversberg mountains, is an eco-paradise with impressive flora and (marine) fauna and is about 30 minutes' drive from Hermanus. Whales (seasonal), dolphins, sharks, seals and penguins are not rare guests at Walker Bay. The 16 exclusive freestanding suites at Forest Lodge have a bathroom/WC, a bedroom with a separate lounge area, a fireplace, a minibar, a tea/coffee maker, a TV with DVD player, a safe and a veranda with sea view and outdoor shower. The lodge offers a restaurant, a bar, an infinity pool, a spacious outdoor deck with sea views, a spa area (for a fee) and free WiFi.

DAY 7: HERMANUS

FULL DAY PRIVATE HERMANUS TO STELLENBOSCH WINE TOUR

The Coastal Region on the south coast near Hermanus is probably the most up-and-coming wine-growing region in South Africa at the moment and has long since overcome its status as an insider tip. The Hemel-en-Aarde Valley is particularly noteworthy. The cooler and more humid coastal climate favors white grapes in particular, but red grapes such as Pinot Noir and Pinotage can also be found here.

You will be picked up at your accommodation in the morning and taken to two of the following wineries of your choice: The first possible stop is Hamilton Russel Wine Estate, where you will take a cellar tour and taste the estate's award-winning Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Next, you will visit the Bouchard Finlayson winery, where you will sample their first-class Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays, and Sauvignon Blancs. Next on the agenda could be a premium wine tasting at the La Vierge winery. In addition to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, there are also some interesting white and red blends to taste here. You will have the option of having lunch at one of the wineries.

Then continue along the coast along the scenic Clarence Drive. On a clear day, you can see across False Bay to Cape Point. In the afternoon, you will be dropped off at your accommodation in Stellenbosch.

DAY 7 TO DAY 9:

POSITION BOSCH

Stellenbosch is the heart of South African wine production. Countless wine estates are lined up next to each other, and you can get to know South Africa's fine wines at one or two wine tastings. The scenically impressive mountain ranges offer unique hiking opportunities. The second oldest city in the country has a beautiful historic city center with many listed buildings in the Cape Dutch architectural style. Cafés, restaurants and boutiques invite you to stroll and linger. Thanks to the local university, Stellenbosch is a very lively and young city, despite its historical background.

The luxurious Lanzerac Hotel & SPA on the wine estate of the same name is located around ten minutes' drive outside Stellenbosch on the way to the beautiful Jonkershoek Valley. With roots dating back to the 17th century, discerning guests can now expect an elegant five-star country hotel. The 52 rooms offer a perfect balance of old-world charm and modern facilities. All rooms have a shower/WC with separate bathtub, air conditioning, minibar, safe, tea/coffee maker, TV and free Wi-Fi. The Classic Rooms are around 45 square meters in size. You will stop at selected wineries to sample the region's excellent fine wines. The variety of grapes grown here includes virtually every name that is renowned in the world of wine, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Pinotage, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay.

You will visit two wineries and take part in wine tastings to get an overview of the variety of local wines. There will also be a nice lunch stop at one of the wineries (lunch optional). Afterwards, the journey continues to the lively center of Stellenbosch, where you will get to know both the historic old town and modern city life during a walk. In the afternoon, you will be dropped off at your accommodation in Cape Town.

On weekdays, you can explore the city center, the colourful Bo-Kaap district and the Company's Garden on foot without hesitation.

Your private English-speaking tour guide will pick you up from your accommodation in the morning. You set off on a day trip to the highlights of the Cape Peninsula. Along the Atlantic suburbs of Camps Bay and Llandudno, you will reach the small harbor of Hout Bay. Here you can take a boat trip to a colony of seals (optional). Continue along the beautiful Chapmans Peak Drive (if open) towards Cape Point with the famous Cape of Good Hope. On the way you make a nice stop for a delicious lunch. If time permits, you can also visit the Cape Point Vineyard. On the way back from the Cape, the next stop is the famous penguin colony at Boulders Beach. After a short stroll through the picturesque Simons Town, the journey continues back towards Cape Town. You will be dropped off at your accommodation in the late afternoon.

The Rovos Rail is definitely the most luxurious way to spend your vacation in South Africa. The trains with their lovingly restored nostalgic carriages are a five-star hotel on wheels. All carriages are air-conditioned and offer every conceivable comfort. Each train has a dining car, a lounge car and a viewing car at the end of the train. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style, extras can be ordered. In the afternoon, cakes are served in the lounge car. Dinner is a multi-course menu. A 24-hour butler service is also available to every guest.

On the journey from Cape Town to Pretoria, there are stops in Kimberley with a visit to the Diamond Museum and the famous Big Hole as well as in Matjiesfontein with a nostalgic city tour. The trip starts on day 1 at 16:00 at Cape Town train station and ends on day 4 at 10:00 at Pretoria train station.

The deluxe suites are approx. 10 square meters in size and have a comfortable bed and a small lounge area. Two single beds can also be booked on request. The suite is air-conditioned (hot/cold) and has its own bathroom with shower/WC, a tea/coffee maker, a minibar, a safe and a hairdryer. Long-haul flights to Southern Africa in Economy Class cost from EUR 900, while prices can be well over EUR 1000 in the high season. Flights in Premium Economy Class are available from 1500 EUR, in Business Class flights cost from 2500 EUR (per person for outward and return flights). All prices are average values depending on the airline and season. The actual prices at a given time depend on the number of bookings and may vary. Early booking is recommended, especially in the high season.

A light lunch costs about 5 EUR (small salad, soup) to 8 EUR (pizza, pasta, burger) per person; dinner costs about 10 EUR (pizza, pasta, burger, large salad) to over 12 EUR (steak, fish) up to 22 EUR (three-course meal) per person.
