ABOUT THIS TRIP

This is the ideal tour for those who don't have a lot of time, but still want to get to know the two main highlights of South Africa without stress and hectic: the Kruger Park with the Panorama Route and Cape Town with the Cape Peninsula and the Winelands. Also included is a stay in a private game reserve in Kruger Park with guided game viewing activities. You will stay in exclusive boutique hotels and lodges in the five-star category, which have been personally selected and inspected by us for this tour. The emphasis here is on first-class service and very special care.

We are happy to change this tour itinerary or the rental car category according to your individual wishes. Please contact us for your personal offer. You should allow just under two weeks for this trip. This trip can be started all year round, but we recommend focusing on the north from May to August. A four-wheel drive vehicle is not necessary for this trip, but an SUV with a higher wheelbase is sometimes helpful. Alternatively, this trip can also be booked with private transfers from place to place instead of a rental car.

DAY 5 (APPROX. 90 KM): NELSPRUIT

ONEWAY FLIGHT TO CAPE TOWN

A domestic or regional flight is the fastest and most convenient way to cover longer distances in southern Africa. Thanks to various competitors, there is a dense network of scheduled flights to a total of more than 25 airports. All local airlines fly with modern aircraft that meet the highest safety standards and are of course regularly maintained, just like in Europe.

The flight is operated in Economy Class. Depending on the airline, only one piece of checked baggage weighing 20kg to 23kg and one piece of hand baggage are permitted per person. You will receive details with your travel documents. Additional baggage, seat reservations and other services can be booked at very reasonable prices. We recommend arriving at international airports such as Windhoek, Victoria Falls, Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town at least two hours before departure; at smaller regional airports, 90 minutes is sufficient.

Please return your rental car to Nelspruit Airport or the agreed location at least two hours before departure.

DAY 5 TO DAY 7 (APPROX. 50 KM):

FRANSCHHOEK

Upon arrival at Cape Town Airport or the agreed-upon pick-up location, you will receive your new rental car. In contrast to bustling Stellenbosch, Franschhoek has a more laid-back atmosphere. The name Franschhoek roughly translates to “French Corner” or “French Nook.” The town was founded in 1688, when about 200 Huguenots who had emigrated from France settled in the area. The Huguenot Museum and the Huguenot Monument serve as reminders of Franschhoek’s French origins. Along the Franschhoek Wine Route, more than 45 wineries produce top-quality wines. Some of them follow centuries-old French traditions, while others rely on very modern methods. Along the main street, you’ll find many boutiques, cafés, and bistros. The town is also famous for its top-notch restaurants, which rival European Michelin-starred cuisine but are significantly more affordable.

In the triangle between Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl in the middle of a beautiful landscape lies the luxurious Babylonstoren wine estate, which is world-famous for its magnificent gardens. The hotel suites and cottages are spread across the extensive grounds in different parts of the building. Various restaurants are available for lunch and dinner. Hotel guests can use the pool and, for an additional charge, the wellness area. The individual suites and cottages all have a bathroom/WC, air conditioning, a fireplace, a minibar, a TV, a safe and a tea/coffee maker. The Two Bedroom Cottages have two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom/WC.

In addition to breakfast, the following activities are included in the accommodation price: guided cellar tour and wine tasting, guided tour through the gardens, guided excursion into the mountains and more (all activities are conducted in English with additional people).

DAY 5 TO DAY 7 (APPROX. 50 KM):

FRANSCHHOEK

OPTIONAL UPGRADE STARTING AT €1,055 PER PERSON

You travel to the famous wine regions of the Western Cape. Countless wine estates are lined up next to each other, so nothing stands in the way of a wine tasting or two. You drive to the heart of South African wine production and on to Franschhoek. More than 40 wine estates along the Franschhoek Wine Route produce top-quality wines. The name Franschhoek means something like "French angle" or "French corner". The village was founded in 1688, when around 200 Huguenots who had emigrated from France settled in the area. The Huguenot Museum and the Huguenot Monument are reminders of Franschhoek's French origins.

This exceptional winery and boutique hotel is located in the middle of the vineyards, just a five-minute drive from the small town center of Franschhoek. The Leeu and Mullineux families have joined forces to produce truly sensational wines, which can of course be tasted on site. The excellent La Petite Colombe restaurant is also located on the winery (early reservations are necessary). Hotel guests have access to a pool, wine tasting, a free shuttle to the village, and a spa area for an additional fee. The individual suites all offer a bathroom/WC, air conditioning, a TV, a telephone, a safe, tea/coffee making facilities, a minibar, and free WiFi. The Classic Rooms are approximately 42 square meters in size. The Deluxe Rooms are approximately 55 square meters in size. The Studio Rooms are approximately 63 square meters in size and also offer a fireplace and a private terrace. The Executive Suites are approximately 100 square meters in size and also have a lounge area with a fireplace. The Executive Terrace Suites are approximately 115 square meters in size and also feature a lounge area and a terrace.

This service can be booked for an additional charge.

DAY 6: FRANSCHHOEK

FULL DAY PRIVATE FRANSCHHOEK WINE TOUR

OPTIONALLY BOOKABLE FROM 195 € PER PERSON

You will be picked up at your accommodation in the morning by your private English-speaking driver and wine expert. You set off on a day trip to the classic wine regions of Franschhoek. The "French Corner", as the place name translates, has remained true to its French tradition to this day. Grapes such as Pinot Noir, Merlot, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Vignonier dominate the vineyards.

You will visit three wine estates and take part in wine tastings to get a good overview of the famous Franschhoek wines. There will also be a nice lunch stop at one of the wine estates. If time permits, you can also make a stop at the small coffee roastery Terbodore. You will be dropped off at your accommodation again in the afternoon.

The cost of wine tasting is already included in the price. The costs for lunch, other drinks and a visit to the Terbodore coffee roastery (if desired) are not included in the price. Please note that not all wineries may be open on weekdays or at certain times of the year.

This is a privately guided day tour and the program can be adapted to your individual wishes in advance. Certain special requests may lead to price surcharges.

This service can be booked for an additional charge.

DAY 7 TO DAY 9 (APPROX. 160 KM):

Grootbos Private Nature Reserve

The tour continues to the "whale capital" of South Africa, Hermanus. Here you have the best opportunities to watch whales from the coast between June and November. Of course, you can also take a boat trip out to sea to get even closer to the largest mammals on earth. But Hermanus also has a lot to offer outside the whale season in the South African summer. There are excellent beaches, great restaurants and the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, a unique nature reserve with typical fynbos vegetation and many hiking trails. Even winegrowing has now left its insider status here in the Coastal Region. Over 30 wineries have joined together to form various wine routes.

The Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, nestled between the Indian Ocean and the Kleinriversberg mountains, is an eco-paradise with impressive flora and (marine) fauna and is about 30 minutes' drive from Hermanus. Whales (seasonal), dolphins, sharks, seals and penguins are not rare guests at Walker Bay. The 16 exclusive freestanding suites at Forest Lodge have a bathroom/WC, a bedroom with a separate lounge area, a fireplace, a minibar, a tea/coffee maker, a TV with DVD player, a safe and a veranda with sea view and outdoor shower. The lodge offers a restaurant, a bar, an infinity pool, a spacious outdoor deck with sea views, a spa area (for a fee) and free WiFi.

You will participate in two activities per night, such as guided horseback riding, guided hikes, seasonal whale watching, and fynbos safaris (subject to availability, English-speaking, conducted with other people). Nature conservation fees are payable on site.
