ABOUT THIS TRIP
Experience five of South Africa's essential highlights on this tour. In a private game reserve in Kruger Park, you will encounter the Big Five and all of Africa's other wildlife. Breathtaking landscapes await you along the Panorama Route and in the Little Karoo semi-desert. On the Garden Route and South Coast, you will discover endless beaches and even whales during certain seasons. In the wine regions, you can enjoy fine wines and good food. Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
You don't want to drive yourself, but a small group tour doesn't have the right start date for you and a privately guided tour is too expensive? Then our English-speaking chauffeur-driven tours are just the right alternative. Your private chauffeur will take you from place to place, where you will then take part in privately guided day activities and excursions (with the exception of game viewing activities with other people). However, you do not have the all-round support of a continuous tour guide. All chauffeur-driven tours can start daily and can be adapted to your wishes at any point beforehand. The more people take part in your own chauffeur-driven tour, the lower the price per person.

DAY 1: HOEDSPRUIT
ONEWAY TRANSFER FROM HOEDSPRUIT AIRPORT

In the case of a transfer from your accommodation, you will be picked up at the entrance of your guesthouse, lodge or hotel at the agreed time. You will be driven to your destination and dropped off at your accommodation or at the airport.
For transfers from the airport, you will be met personally in the arrivals hall. Please look out for a person carrying a sign with your name on it. If an explicit pick-up point or meeting point is mentioned in your tour book, please go there. You will be driven to your destination and dropped off at your accommodation.
This private transfer is operated by a qualified English-speaking driver. The vehicle is air-conditioned and corresponds to your private group size, there are no other passengers. The transfer company has all the necessary licenses and insurance for its vehicles and drivers to guarantee legal passenger transportation (no Uber or similar). For long-distance transfers, toilet and catering stops are made as required (catering not included in the price).
For an additional fee, this trip can also begin in Johannesburg.
DAY 1 TO DAY 3:
HOEDSPRUIT

Your destination is the almost 50,000-hectare private Balule Game Reserve in Kruger Park. In contrast to the state-run national parks, only overnight guests have access to the private reserves. The small lodges have a very personal atmosphere. Specially trained rangers ensure a first-class nature experience. A private reserve is preferable for a short stay, as it is much easier to observe animals under expert guidance. Balule has had no fences to the national Kruger Park for many years, so the animals, including the Big Five, can move around freely.
The intimate Greenfire Game Lodge with only nine modern chalet suites is beautifully nestled in the unique bush landscape overlooking the Mohlabetsi Riverbed. The detached suites have a bathroom/WC, a safe, air-conditioning and a private veranda with seating and a view of the riverbed. The lodge offers a viewing deck with pool, a bar, a restaurant, a boma (traditional campfire dining area) and free Wi-Fi.
For each overnight stay you take part in two guided game drives in an open off-road vehicle (English-speaking, participation with other people), which take place in the afternoon before dinner and in the morning before breakfast.

DAY 3: HOEDSPRUIT
HOEDSPRUIT TO HAZYVIEW VIA PANORAMA ROUTE
.jpg)
On the drive from Hoedspruit to Hazyview, you will discover the highlights of the Panorama Route. Of course, God's Window and the world-famous Blyde River Canyon are on the program, including breathtaking views of the Three Rondawels and the Lowveld. In the cozy little town of Graskop, you have the option of visiting the Graskop Gorge. The region is known for its countless waterfalls, some of which you will also visit.
You will be picked up in the morning at your lodge in the private game reserve (please note the exact pick-up time in your tour book). You will arrive at your accommodation in Hazyview at around 5 p.m. Entrance fees for the Panorama Route attractions are included in the price; meals and the visit to Graskop Gorge are to be paid for on site if required. The tour language is English and the tour may be conducted with other people. The tour takes place in a closed vehicle.
DAY 3 TO DAY 5:
HAZYVIEW

Hazyview is ideally located between the scenically unique Panorama Route and the world-famous Kruger Park. From here you can take day trips to the Blyde River Canyon, the Bourkes Luck Potholes and various waterfalls as well as to the Big Five and all other African wildlife. It is also possible to discover the highlights of the Panorama Route or the Kruger Park on the way to or from the private game reserves.
Abangane Guest Lodge is situated just outside Hazyview and is a good base from which to explore the Kruger Park and the attractions of the Panorama Route. The lodge offers peace and relaxation with a fantastic view of the untouched bush landscape of the Lowveld. Despite its location close to nature, restaurants and shopping facilities are only a few minutes' drive away. There is a subtropical garden, a pool, an outdoor terrace and a guest lounge. The five rooms have a private bathroom/WC, air conditioning, a minibar, a tea/coffee maker, a TV, a safe, a veranda with a view and free Wi-Fi. The Honeymoon Suite is more spacious and also offers a separate spa bath.

DAY 4: HAZYVIEW
FULL DAY KRUGER SAFARI EXPERIENCE

You will take part in a full-day excursion in an open off-road vehicle into the national Kruger Park. You will preferably stay in the southern part of the park, as this is where the animal population is densest. Your professional ranger will bring you very close to the animals, a first-class safari experience.
The park is home to more than 150 different mammal species including the so-called "Big Five", i.e. lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo. Over 500 different bird species as well as many reptiles and amphibians make the Kruger Park the ultimate wildlife experience.
You will be picked up at your accommodation early in the morning (please note the pick-up time in your tour book). The safari takes about eight to nine hours. Conservation fees for the Kruger Park are included in the price. You can have a breakfast pack packed by your accommodation, lunch is optional. The tour language is English and the tour is conducted with additional people. The safari takes place in an open off-road vehicle. The transfer to and from Kruger Park can be done in a closed vehicle.

DAY 5: NELSPRUIT
ONEWAY FLIGHT TO GEORGE VIA JOHANNESBURG

A domestic or regional flight is the fastest and most convenient way to cover longer distances in southern Africa. Thanks to various competitors, there is a dense network of scheduled flights to a total of more than 25 airports. All local airlines fly with modern aircraft that meet the highest safety standards and are of course regularly maintained, just like in Europe.
The flight is operated in Economy Class. Depending on the airline, only one piece of checked baggage weighing 20kg to 23kg and one piece of hand baggage are permitted per person. You will receive details with your travel documents. Additional baggage, seat reservations and other services can be booked at very reasonable prices. We recommend arriving at international airports such as Windhoek, Victoria Falls, Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town at least two hours before departure; at smaller regional airports, 90 minutes is sufficient.
DAY 5: GEORGE

DAY 5 TO DAY 8:
KNYSNA

Knysna, with its striking lagoon, is the center of the Garden Route and offers a wide range of daytime activities. The dense forests in the hinterland or the beautiful coastal sections are ideal for hiking, the nearby beaches for swimming and relaxing. Boat trips are offered on the lagoon. From June to November, you may be lucky enough to spot whales. The town itself and the small waterfront with its cafés, stores and boutiques also invite you to stroll and linger.
You will stay in the historic and lovingly restored Parkes Manor Guest House, a stately home in a 12000 square meter park-like garden overlooking the lagoon. The waterfront or the center of Knysna can be reached in about 15 minutes on foot or a few minutes by car. The nine individually furnished suites all have a shower/WC with separate bathtub, a TV, tea/coffee making facilities, air conditioning, a minibar and a safe. The Cozy Suite is located on the first floor and has a private courtyard without a view. The Standard Suites are located on the first floor at the rear of the building and have a balcony. DAY 6: KNYSNA
KNYSNA & NATURE PRIVATE DAY TOUR
.jpg)
You will be picked up at your accommodation in Knysna at 9 am. You will first visit the famous Garden Of Eden, an easily accessible section of rainforest where you will learn a lot about the indigenous flora, from oversized Yellowwood trees to small ferns. The drive then takes you to the western part of the Tsitsikamma National Park in the beautiful Natures Valley, where you take a walk along the beach in a paradisiacal setting. There is also a beautiful viewpoint, although this involves a few meters of elevation gain.
Continue along the unique coastline of the Keurbooms River Lagoon to the picturesque vacation resort of Plettenberg Bay. After a short stroll through the town or along the beach, head to a cozy restaurant overlooking the ocean for lunch (lunch optional). The drive then takes you back to Knysna, where you first drive along the impressive lagoon to the Eastern Head. From here you have a unique view over the lagoon, the town and the open sea. The last stop is the lively waterfront of Knysna, where you have the opportunity to take a leisurely boat trip on the lagoon (boat trip optional and subject to availability). You will be dropped off back at your accommodation at around 5 pm.
The tour language is English, no other people take part. The entrance fees (conservation fees) are already included in the tour price. Lunch and the boat trip are not included in the tour price.
DAY 7: KNYSNA
CULTURE AND NATURE EXPERIENCE
OPTIONALLY BOOKABLE FROM 125 € PER PERSON

You will take part in the following two activities during your stay in Knysna:
You take part in a guided hike in the Robberg Nature Reserve, which is considered the most spectacular coastal hiking area on the entire Garden Route. You will always have great views of the sea and, with a bit of luck, you may spot seals, dolphins, sharks or even whales (seasonal). You will embark on a moderate circular walk lasting around two and a half hours and have the opportunity to enjoy the fantastic surroundings time and again (privately guided, pick-up from your accommodation, sturdy shoes, appropriate clothing and sun protection).
Together with a qualified guide and a local resident, you will take a guided tour into the township of Knysna. Here you will learn a lot about the history of the black and colored inhabitants of South Africa, from the times of apartheid to the present day. The tour itinerary varies depending on the day of the week and time of day. For example, the program may include short visits to small stores, a school, a kindergarten, a shebeen (local pub) or the library. You will get to know the people and their culture and will certainly leave one or two preconceptions behind you (with other people, pick-up at your accommodation).
Both activities are in English. Conservation fees for the hike are included in the price, meals and other personal expenses are not included.
This service can be booked for an additional charge.
DAY 8: KNYSNA
KNYSNA TO OUDTSHOORN PRIVATE DAY TOUR
.jpg)
You will be picked up at your accommodation in Knysna in the morning. Your journey will first take you along the beautiful coastline of Sedgefield and Wilderness with their stunning lake landscapes and dense forests in the hinterland. You will then leave the green coast behind and drive over the imposing Outeniqua Mountains into the dry semi-desert of the Little Karoo.
A stop at a local ostrich farm is now on the program. Oudtshoorn is the ostrich capital of South Africa. Here you will learn a lot about the rearing of the largest flightless birds in the world.
Continue to the Karusa Wine Estate, where you can taste up to five of the locally produced wines. For those less interested in wine, the estate also has its own brewery with interesting craft beers (all tastings optional). Afterwards, you have the opportunity to have lunch at the winery (lunch optional). The winery is closed on Sundays and public holidays, when an alternative program takes place.
Your next stop is the Cango Caves, a unique stalactite cave landscape located just outside Oudtshoorn in the idyllic Schoemanshoek Valley. Here you will embark on an easy guided tour through huge caves and narrow passages (no climbing or crawling). You will be dropped off at your accommodation in Oudtshoorn at around 16:00.
The tour language is English, no other people take part. The entrance fees for the Cango Caves and the ostrich farm are included in the tour price. The wine or beer tasting and lunch are not included in the tour price.
DAY 8 TO DAY 9:
OUDTSHOORN

Oudtshoorn is the jewel of the Little Karoo semi-desert and the largest town along Route 62. The C.P. Nel Museum in the town center explains the history of the town and its rise to become the "ostrich capital" of South Africa. A stop at one of the local ostrich farms is a must, where you can learn a lot about the largest and flightless birds in the world and admire the historic ostrich palaces. The Cango Caves, a huge stalactite cave landscape that is one of the most impressive in the world, are definitely worth a visit. Adventure-seekers with the right vehicle can take a drive over the famous Swartberg Pass, but guided tours are also available. An insider tip is the Rust en Vrede waterfall, located east of the Cango Caves. Clear nights with little light pollution make for an impressive starry sky, and professional stargazers offer appropriate evening observation activities. On several farms, the cute meerkats can be spotted early in the morning on guided tours. Some interesting wineries, such as the Karusa Estate, offer wine tastings.
This upmarket lodge is situated on a working olive farm about 10 km outside Oudtshoorn in the beautiful Schoemanshoek Valley with views of the Swartberg Mountains. The famous Cango Caves are only a 20-minute drive away. The 31 modern rooms all have a bathroom/WC, air conditioning, a minibar, a TV, a tea/coffee maker, a safe, an outdoor seating area and free Wi-Fi. The Family Rooms have two bedrooms. The spacious Honeymoon Suite also has an oversized bathtub. The lodge has a restaurant, a bar, a large outdoor area with a pool and the following activities, some for a fee: olive tastings, kayaking and rowing boat trips on a reservoir, mountain bike rental and various hiking trails.

DAY 9 TO DAY 10:
HERMANUS

The tour continues to the "whale capital" of South Africa, Hermanus. Here you have the best opportunities to watch whales from the coast between June and November. Of course, you can also take a boat trip out to sea to get even closer to the largest mammals on earth. But Hermanus also has a lot to offer outside the whale season in the South African summer. There are excellent beaches, great restaurants and the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, a unique nature reserve with typical fynbos vegetation and many hiking trails. Even winegrowing has now left its insider status here in the Coastal Region. Over 30 wineries have joined together to form various wine routes.
The Hermanus Boutique Guesthouse is located on the famous Cliff Path and within walking distance of the small town center with many restaurants and shopping opportunities. The guesthouse has a large lounge and breakfast area as well as a cozy courtyard with pool and sun loungers. The 18 rooms have a bathroom/WC (some have an open bathroom solution with separate WC), a TV, air conditioning, a tea/coffee maker, a minibar, a safe and free WiFi. DAY 10: HERMANUS
BOAT-BASED WHALE WATCHING INCL. PICK-UP
OPTIONALLY BOOKABLE FROM 135 € PER PERSON

In the South African winter months from June to November, you have the best chance of spotting Southern Right Whales (right whales) and Humpback Whales (humpbacks) in Walker Bay near Hermanus. You can get within 50 meters of these gigantic marine mammals by boat. This is an experience that no one should miss, especially if the whales are not directly on the coast. If you are lucky, you may also spot dolphins, penguins, sharks and seals during the trip.
The trip takes about two hours and starts at New Harbour in Hermanus. You will be picked up at your accommodation in good time by transfer and then dropped off there again. The tour is in English and is conducted with additional people. A small refreshment is included in the price. We recommend booking this activity in advance, especially in the popular months of October and November, as places on the boat are limited and may be fully booked on site.
