ABOUT THIS TRIP
Let yourself be pampered - in the culinary sense. The wine regions of the Western Cape near Cape Town are among the most beautiful areas in South Africa. The country's best wine estates and most famous restaurants are located here. Embark on a gourmet journey of discovery like you've never been on before. We will give you some good tips from experience for the respective dinners on site, but you will also have enough freedom to discover your own personal top restaurants. As most upscale restaurants work with regularly changing menus, it makes no sense to include lunch and dinner in the tour price. However, we can reserve a table at the restaurant of your choice on request, and very early reservations are often highly recommended.
We are happy to change this tour itinerary or the rental car category according to your individual wishes. Please contact us for your personal offer. We recommend starting this trip in the South African summer from September to April. A four-wheel drive vehicle is not necessary for this trip, but a vehicle with a higher wheelbase is sometimes helpful.

DAY 1 TO DAY 3 (APPROX. 50 KM):
POSITION BOSCH

You will receive your rental car on arrival at Cape Town Airport or at the agreed station. Stellenbosch is the heart of South African wine production. Countless wine estates are lined up next to each other, and you can get to know South Africa's fine wines at one or two wine tastings. The scenically impressive mountain ranges offer unique hiking opportunities. The second oldest city in the country has a beautiful historic city center with many listed buildings in the Cape Dutch architectural style. Cafés, restaurants and boutiques invite you to stroll and linger. Thanks to the local university, Stellenbosch is a very lively and young city, despite its historical background.
Just outside Stellenbosch on the scenic Helshoogte Pass lies this small but very fine wine estate and luxurious boutique hotel with breathtaking views of the Simonsberg Mountains. Overnight guests can choose from 15 hotel rooms, suites and villas, all of which are equipped with bath/WC, flat-screen TV with DVD player, air conditioning, Nespresso machine, iPod station, minibar, balcony or terrace, safe and free WLAN. The hotel rooms are located in the main building and differ mainly in terms of room size. The villas and suites are located slightly away from the main building. The Two Bedroom Villa has a lounge and kitchenette as well as two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom/WC. The two Pool Suites share a private pool. The hotel offers two communal pools, a large garden, a bar, a restaurant, an outdoor and indoor lounge and wine tasting for a fee.

DAY 2: STELLENBOSCH
FULL DAY PRIVATE FOOD AND WINE EXPERIENCE

You will take part in the following two activities in Stellenbosch:
You will be picked up at your accommodation in the morning and drive to the historic old town of Stellenbosch, where a very special city tour on the topic of history and enjoyment awaits you in South Africa's "Gourmet Capital". In addition to the most important historical events, you will learn about the locals' love for their food. For example, you will taste locally produced bread, cheese, sausage, coffee, ice cream and cakes.
At lunchtime, the journey takes you out into the scenic vineyards of Stellenbosch. You will stop at two hand-picked wine estates to get an overview of the diverse South African wine selection during wine tastings under expert guidance. On request, your guide will recommend a nice restaurant for a lunch stop (lunch optional). You will be dropped off at your accommodation in the afternoon.
Both activities are conducted in English and are private tours. Food and wine tastings are included in the price; lunch, other beverages, and personal expenses are not included.
DAY 3 TO DAY 5 (APPROX. 20 KM):
PAARL

Paarl is one of the oldest settlements in the Cape Town hinterland. It lies on the banks of the Berg River, 132 meters above sea level. The area is not only spoiled by the climate, but is also very fertile thanks to the soil. Various types of fruit and vegetables have therefore been grown here since settlement. Paarl is of course also one of the three major wine regions of the Western Cape, and wine lovers can discover exciting wine estates here and in the neighboring wine regions of Wellington and Swartland. Hiking enthusiasts will also get their money's worth in the Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve.
The impressive Grande Roche Hotel is located just outside the town of Paarl, yet nestled in an idyllic setting amidst the vineyards. Even at breakfast on the terrace, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the stunning landscape, and the beautifully manicured gardens offer plenty of space to relax. The 35 rooms feature a bathroom/toilet, air conditioning, underfloor heating, a telephone, a TV, a safe, a tea/coffee maker, and free Wi-Fi. The Legacy Rooms are approximately 35 square meters in size. The Terrace Suites are approximately 50 square meters in size. The Heritage Suites are approximately 65 square meters in size and span two floors. The Garden Suite is approximately 60 square meters and features a private jacuzzi on the terrace. The hotel offers an outdoor terrace, a large garden with two pools, a bar, a restaurant, a fitness room, and a wellness area (for a fee).

The Swartland is also known for its high-quality olive products.
You will visit three to four boutique wineries, such as AA Badenhorst, Allersverloren, Lammershoek, Kloovenburg or Mullineux, and take part in wine or olive tastings. There will also be a nice lunch stop on the way (lunch optional). You will be dropped off at your accommodation again in the afternoon.

DAY 5 TO DAY 7 (APPROX. 100 KM):
ROBERTSON

Robertson is an up-and-coming wine-growing region in South Africa with many interesting wineries and restaurants. Klipdrift is home to one of South Africa's most important brandy distilleries. In addition to wine growing, fruit and olive plantations as well as dairy and cheese farms play an important role. Strolling through the town's avenues, you can admire the many Victorian houses with their beautiful front gardens, especially in October and November when the numerous jacaranda trees are in glorious purple bloom. The small Drosdy Museum is well worth a visit, and the Dutch Reformed Church in the center is a real eye-catcher. The location on the mighty Breede River at the foot of the imposing Langeberg Mountains is unique. Boat trips are offered on the Viljoensdrift vineyard. Hiking enthusiasts will get their money's worth at the Van Loveren vineyard.
You will stay at the luxurious Robertson Small Hotel, which has won several awards as the best luxury country hotel in the country. Restaurants, cafés and stores are all within walking distance. The surrounding vineyards can be reached in around 15 minutes by car. The ten high-quality rooms have a bathroom/WC, a TV with DVD player, air conditioning, a minibar, a tea/coffee maker and a veranda. The three Manor House Rooms are located in the main building. The three Stable Suites are located in an outbuilding overlooking the second pool. The four Pool Suites open onto the main pool. The boutique hotel has two pools, an upscale restaurant, a wine bar, a beautiful garden, a wellness area (for a fee) and free Wi-Fi.

WINE TASTING EXPERIENCE IN THE ROBERSON VALLEY

At 11 am you will be picked up at your accommodation by your local wine expert. The drive takes you to the scenic Robertson Wine Valley, which is responsible for around 20% of South Africa's total wine production. Depending on the day of the week, time and interest, three to four local wineries will be visited. There you will learn about the different wines of the region under expert guidance. At one winery you can take part in a private cellar tour (Mondays to Fridays only). You can also fill your own bottle of wine. You have the opportunity to have lunch at one of the wineries (optional). You will return to your accommodation between 4 pm and 5 pm.
This is a privately guided tour in English. You will be picked up and dropped off at your accommodation. The wine tasting, the cellar tour (Mondays to Fridays only) and one self-bottled bottle of wine per couple are already included in the price. Lunch and drinks are paid for on the spot.
DAY 7 TO DAY 9 (APPROX. 130 KM):
FRANSCHHOEK

In contrast to lively Stellenbosch, Franschhoek is a more sedate place. The name Franschhoek means something like "French corner" or "French corner". The town was founded in 1688, when around 200 Huguenots who had emigrated from France settled in the area. The Huguenot Museum and the Huguenot Monument are reminders of Franschhoek's French origins. More than 45 wine estates along the Franschhoek Wine Route produce top-quality wines. Some of them produce in the centuries-old French tradition, while others use completely modern methods. Along the main street you will find many boutiques, cafés and bistros. The town is also famous for its top restaurants, which are on a par with European Michelin-starred cuisine, but are considerably more attractive in terms of price.
The award-winning La Petite Ferme wine estate is situated on the slopes of the Franschhoek Pass with great views of the surrounding area. It offers a tasting room for wine tastings and an upscale restaurant. The 15 modern hotel suites offer everything discerning guests could wish for. Each suite has a WC with shower and separate bathtub, air conditioning, underfloor heating, minibar, tea/coffee maker, TV, safe and a veranda with lounge furniture and views of the vineyards. The Vineyard Suites all have their own small plunge pool on the veranda, while the Manor House Suites and Winery Suites share a large pool. The accommodation also offers free Wi-Fi, mountain bike rental (for a fee) and spa treatments (for a fee). Overnight guests can take part in a wine tasting free of charge.

FULL DAY PRIVATE FRANSCHHOEK WINE TOUR

You will be picked up at your accommodation in the morning by your private English-speaking driver and wine expert. You set off on a day trip to the classic wine regions of Franschhoek. The "French Corner", as the place name translates, has remained true to its French tradition to this day. Grapes such as Pinot Noir, Merlot, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Vignonier dominate the vineyards.
You will visit three wine estates and take part in wine tastings to get a good overview of the famous Franschhoek wines. There will also be a nice lunch stop at one of the wine estates. If time permits, you can also make a stop at the small coffee roastery Terbodore. You will be dropped off at your accommodation again in the afternoon.
The cost of wine tasting is already included in the price. The costs for lunch, other drinks and a visit to the Terbodore coffee roastery (if desired) are not included in the price. Please note that not all wineries may be open on weekdays or at certain times of the year.
This is a privately guided day tour and the program can be adapted to your individual wishes in advance. Certain special requests may lead to price surcharges.
DAY 9 TO DAY 11 (APPROX. 100 KM):
HERMANUS

The tour continues to the "whale capital" of South Africa, Hermanus. Here you have the best opportunities to watch whales from the coast between June and November. Of course, you can also take a boat trip out to sea to get even closer to the largest mammals on earth. But Hermanus also has a lot to offer outside the whale season in the South African summer. There are excellent beaches, great restaurants and the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, a unique nature reserve with typical fynbos vegetation and many hiking trails. Even winegrowing has now left its insider status here in the Coastal Region. Over 30 wineries have joined together to form various wine routes.
This luxurious guest house is located on Hermanus' famous Grotto Beach with unobstructed views of the sea. In summer you can relax on the Blue Flag award-winning beach, in winter you can watch whales from your room. Several cafés and restaurants are within walking distance. The center of Hermanus is about ten minutes away by car. The modern guest house offers an outdoor terrace with sea view, a lounge area with bar and fireplace, a courtyard with pool and sun loungers as well as free WiFi. The five rooms have a bathroom/WC, a minibar, a tea/coffee maker, a safe, a fan, underfloor heating and a TV with DVD player. The Deluxe Rooms have a terrace with a limited sea view. The suites are more spacious and offer a terrace or balcony with a full sea view.

DAY 10: HERMANUS
FULL DAY PRIVATE HERMANUS WINE TOUR
OPTIONAL BOOKING STARTING AT €200 PER PERSON

The Coastal Region on the south coast near Hermanus is probably the most up-and-coming wine-growing region in South Africa at the moment and has long since overcome its status as an insider tip. The Hemel-en-Aarde Valley is particularly noteworthy. The cooler and more humid coastal climate favors white grapes in particular, but red grapes such as Pinot Noir and Pinotage can also be found here.
You will visit three of the following wineries of your choice: The first possible stop is the Hamilton Russel Wine Estate, where you will take part in a cellar tour and taste the estate's own award-winning Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Continue to Bouchard Finlayson Winery for a tasting of their premium Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays and Sauvignon Blancs, followed by a light lunch (optional). Next on the program could be a premium wine tasting at the La Vierge winery. In addition to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, there are also some interesting white and red blends to taste here. The culinary finale would be the Wine & Chocolate Pairing at the Creation Wine Estate, which offers interesting red wines such as Merlot and Syrah in addition to white Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier.
This is a private tour with no other participants. The tour is conducted in English. You will be picked up at your accommodation and dropped off there afterward. The cost of three wine tastings is included in the price. The cost of food and additional drinks is not included in the price.
This service can be booked for an additional charge.

With a bit of luck, you may spot smaller antelope species, baboons and rock hyrax.
The hike is in English, additional people can take part (max. six people per guide). You are responsible for your own transportation to the starting point. Meals, drinks and other personal expenses are not included, there are no shopping facilities in the nature reserve.
