ABOUT THIS TRIP

Embark on an extraordinary pleasure trip to the Cape. Your first stop is the pretty fishing village of Paternoste. Continue to Paarl with a detour to the picturesque Tulbagh wine valley. Stellenbosch, with its historic town center, is the unofficial wine capital of the country. The next stop, Franschhoek, has remained true to its French tradition of winegrowing and top restaurants to this day. Very special wines thrive in the coastal climate of Hermanus. Your journey ends in Cape Town with a flying visit to Constantia, the oldest wine-growing region in the Cape.

Our chauffeur-driven tours can start daily and are as individual as rental car tours, with the difference that you don't have to drive yourself. Private English-speaking transfers take you from station to station where you can take part in private excursions. Our chauffeur-driven tours can start from two people, but are also ideal for larger groups (e.g. families, friends) who want to keep to themselves. We are happy to modify this tour itinerary according to your individual wishes. Please contact us for your personal offer. We recommend starting this tour in the South African summer from September to April.

DAY 3 TO DAY 5:

PAARL

Paarl is one of the oldest settlements in the Cape Town hinterland. It lies on the banks of the Berg River, 132 meters above sea level. The area is not only spoiled by the climate, but is also very fertile thanks to the soil. Various types of fruit and vegetables have therefore been grown here since settlement. Paarl is of course also one of the three major wine regions of the Western Cape, and wine lovers can discover exciting wine estates here and in the neighboring wine regions of Wellington and Swartland. Hiking enthusiasts will also get their money's worth in the Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve.

De Leeuwenhof Estate on the outskirts of Paarl is a working fruit and wine farm. In addition to almost 3500 fruit trees, there are Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cape Riesling vines. The estate also offers a beautiful four-star guest house with 18 rooms, all of which have a bathroom/WC, air conditioning, a TV, a tea/coffee maker, a safe, a terrace and free WLAN. The Standard Rooms and Classic Rooms are located in the former stable building. The Luxury Rooms are located in the former barn and offer higher quality furnishings. DAY 4: PAARL

FULL DAY PRIVATE TULBAGH WINE TOUR

Your English-speaking wine expert will pick you up at your accommodation in the morning. You set off on a day trip to the beautiful Tulbagh wine region north of Paarl. The region around this pretty village is still an absolute insider tip in the South African wine world. The climate particularly favors light white wines from Colombard or Chenin Blanc, but noteworthy red wines such as Shiraz or Cabernet Sauvignon are also successfully cultivated.

You will visit various wineries to get to know the special features of this wine region. There will also be an olive oil tasting at Oakhurst Olive Farm. At Manley you will take part in a wine and chocolate pairing. Saronsberg is perfect for a light lunch (lunch optional). Krone is known for its Méthode Cap Classique sparkling wines. Lemberg offers the Hungarian white wine grape Hárslevelü. Depending on the time, there is also a flying visit to the historic Church Street or a local fruit farm. You will be dropped off at your accommodation in the afternoon.

The costs for wine, chocolate and olive tastings are already included in the price. The costs for lunch and other drinks are not included in the price. Please note that not all wineries may be open on weekdays or at certain times of the year and alternatives may be available.

This is a privately guided day tour and the program can be adapted to your individual wishes in advance. Certain special requests may lead to price surcharges. The tour can also be conducted in German for an additional charge.

Stellenbosch is the heart of South African wine production. Countless wine estates are lined up next to each other, and you can get to know South Africa's fine wines at one or two wine tastings. The scenically impressive mountain ranges offer unique hiking opportunities. The second oldest city in the country has a beautiful historic city center with many listed buildings in the Cape Dutch architectural style. Cafés, restaurants and boutiques invite you to stroll and linger. Thanks to the local university, Stellenbosch is a very lively and young city, despite its historical background.

You will spend the night at Wedgeview Country House in the middle of the Stellenbosch vineyards. Countless wine estates are right on the doorstep. The old town of Stellenbosch can be reached in around ten minutes by car. The spacious grounds consist of several buildings, a large garden and two pools, one of which is solar-heated. The accommodation also offers a restaurant, a bar, a lounge, an outdoor terrace and a spa area (for a fee). FULL DAY PRIVATE FOOD AND WINE EXPERIENCE

In addition to the most important historical events, you will learn about the locals' love for their food. For example, you will taste locally produced bread, cheese, sausage, coffee, ice cream and cakes.

At lunchtime, the journey takes you out into the scenic vineyards of Stellenbosch. You will stop at two hand-picked wine estates to get an overview of the diverse South African wine selection during wine tastings under expert guidance. On request, your guide will recommend a nice restaurant for a lunch stop (lunch optional). You will be dropped off at your accommodation in the afternoon.

Both activities are English-speaking and privately guided. The food and wine tastings are included in the price, lunch and other drinks and personal expenses are not included. These activities can also be conducted in German for an additional charge.

DAY 7 TO DAY 9:

FRANSCHHOEK

In contrast to lively Stellenbosch, Franschhoek is a more sedate place. The name Franschhoek means something like "French corner" or "French corner". The town was founded in 1688, when around 200 Huguenots who had emigrated from France settled in the area. The Huguenot Museum and the Huguenot Monument are reminders of Franschhoek's French origins. More than 45 wine estates along the Franschhoek Wine Route produce top-quality wines. Some of them produce in the centuries-old French tradition, while others use completely modern methods. Along the main street you will find many boutiques, cafés and bistros. The town is also famous for its top restaurants, which are on a par with European Michelin-starred cuisine, but are considerably more attractive in terms of price.

The Auberge Clermont Guest House is located on a working wine and olive farm with a great view over the vineyards of Franschhoek. The wines and olive oils are only produced in very small quantities and can only be purchased on site. The town center is about 15 minutes' walk or a few minutes' drive away. There is a pool, a tennis court and a boules court on the grounds. A short walk leads through the vineyards to a picnic area by a small river. The six rooms have a bathroom/WC, air conditioning, underfloor heating, a hairdryer, a Nespresso machine, a minibar and free Wi-Fi. The Honeymoon Suite is slightly more spacious than the Deluxe Rooms and has a double shower and bathtub. In addition to the six rooms, there is a self-catering villa with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a lounge area with fireplace, a veranda with barbecue facilities and a private pool. Guests of the villa have breakfast delivered in the morning.

DAY 8: FRANSCHHOEK

FULL DAY PRIVATE FRANSCHHOEK WINE TOUR

You will be picked up at your accommodation in the morning by your private English-speaking driver and wine expert. You set off on a day trip to the classic wine regions of Franschhoek. The "French Corner", as the place name translates, has remained true to its French tradition to this day. Grapes such as Pinot Noir, Merlot, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Vignonier dominate the vineyards.

You will visit three wine estates and take part in wine tastings to get a good overview of the famous Franschhoek wines. There will also be a nice lunch stop at one of the wine estates. If time permits, you can also make a stop at the small coffee roastery Terbodore. You will be dropped off at your accommodation again in the afternoon.

The cost of wine tasting is already included in the price. The costs for lunch, other drinks and a visit to the Terbodore coffee roastery (if desired) are not included in the price. Please note that not all wineries may be open on weekdays or at certain times of the year.

This is a privately guided day tour and the program can be adapted to your individual wishes in advance. Certain special requests may lead to price surcharges. The tour can also be conducted in German for an additional charge.

DAY 9: FRANSCHHOEK

ONEWAY TRANSFER TO HERMANUS

This private transfer is operated by a qualified English-speaking driver. The vehicle is air-conditioned and corresponds to your private group size, there are no other passengers. The transfer company has all the necessary licenses and insurance for its vehicles and drivers to guarantee legal passenger transportation (no Uber or similar).

In the case of a transfer from your accommodation, you will be picked up at the entrance of your guesthouse, lodge or hotel at the agreed time. You will be driven to your destination and dropped off at your accommodation or at the airport.

For transfers from the airport, you will be met personally in the arrivals hall. Please look out for a person carrying a sign with your name on it. If an explicit pick-up point or meeting point is mentioned in your tour book, please go there. You will be driven to your destination and dropped off at your accommodation.

DAY 9 TO DAY 11:

HERMANUS

The tour continues to the "whale capital" of South Africa, Hermanus. Here you have the best opportunities to watch whales from the coast between June and November. Of course, you can also take a boat trip out to sea to get even closer to the largest mammals on earth. But Hermanus also has a lot to offer outside the whale season in the South African summer. There are excellent beaches, great restaurants and the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, a unique nature reserve with typical fynbos vegetation and many hiking trails. Even winegrowing has now left its insider status here in the Coastal Region. Over 30 wineries have joined together to form various wine routes.

The Hermanus Boutique Guesthouse is located on the famous Cliff Path and within walking distance of the small town center with many restaurants and shopping opportunities. The guesthouse has a large lounge and breakfast area as well as a cozy courtyard with pool and sun loungers. The 18 rooms have a bathroom/WC (some have an open bathroom solution with separate WC), a TV, air conditioning, a tea/coffee maker, a minibar, a safe and free WiFi. The Standard Rooms are located in the main building and measure around 30 sqm. The Luxury Pool View Rooms, which are approximately 30 m² in size, are located in an adjoining building next to the pool area. The Luxury Sea View Rooms (approx. 35 sqm) are located in the main building and have a small balcony or veranda with sea view. The 40 sqm Honeymoon Suites are located on the second floor of the main building and have a balcony with sea view. The Family Suite is located in an adjoining building and has two bedrooms that share a bathroom/WC. The Penthouse Suite, measuring around 60 sqm, has a large lounge area and a large balcony with sea view.

HERMANUS BOUTIQUE GUESTHOUSE (LUXURY ROOM SEA VIEW)

2X OVERNIGHT STAY WITH BREAKFAST

DAY 10: HERMANUS

FULL DAY PRIVATE HERMANUS WINE TOUR

The Coastal Region on the south coast near Hermanus is probably the most up-and-coming wine-growing region in South Africa at the moment and has long since overcome its status as an insider tip. The Hemel-en-Aarde Valley is particularly noteworthy. The cooler and more humid coastal climate favors white grapes in particular, but red grapes such as Pinot Noir and Pinotage can also be found here.

You will visit three of the following wineries of your choice: The first possible stop is the Hamilton Russel Wine Estate, where you will take part in a cellar tour and taste the estate's own award-winning Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Continue to Bouchard Finlayson Winery for a tasting of their premium Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays and Sauvignon Blancs, followed by a light lunch (optional). Next on the program could be a premium wine tasting at the La Vierge winery. In addition to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, there are also some interesting white and red blends to taste here. The culinary finale would be the Wine & Chocolate Pairing at the Creation Wine Estate, which offers interesting red wines such as Merlot and Syrah in addition to white Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier.

This is a privately guided tour without other participants. The tour language is English (German possible on request for an additional charge). You will be picked up and dropped off at your accommodation. The cost of three wine tastings is included in the price. Costs for food and other drinks are not included in the price.

DAY 11: HERMANUS

BOAT-BASED WHALE WATCHING INCL. PICK-UP

OPTIONALLY BOOKABLE FROM 115 € PER PERSON

In the South African winter months from June to November, you have the best chance of spotting Southern Right Whales (right whales) and Humpback Whales (humpbacks) in Walker Bay near Hermanus. You can get within 50 meters of these gigantic marine mammals by boat. This is an experience that no one should miss, especially if the whales are not directly on the coast. If you are lucky, you may also spot dolphins, penguins, sharks and seals during the trip.

The trip takes about two hours and starts at New Harbour in Hermanus. You will be picked up at your accommodation in good time by transfer and then dropped off there again. The tour is in English and is conducted with additional people. A small refreshment is included in the price. We recommend booking this activity in advance, especially in the popular months of October and November, as places on the boat are limited and may be fully booked on site. If the trip has to be canceled at short notice due to weather conditions, we will refund the price after your trip.

This service can be booked for an additional charge.
