On this trip, you will travel as a couple, family or group of friends with your own private tour guide (either German or English-speaking), who will be at your disposal throughout. The trip can be started daily. You will spend the night in selected upscale accommodation. Of course, the itinerary can be adapted to your individual wishes at any point. The price per person depends on the size of your private group.

Day 1: Welcome to South Africa (approx. 240 km)
You will be met by your private tour guide at Cape Town airport. You will first stop at the famous Blouberg Beach in Milnerton for a fantastic first view of Table Mountain. You then travel north and reach the pretty little town of Clanwilliam in the Cederberg Mountains. The rest of the day is at your leisure here. Relax in your guesthouse or go on an initial exploration tour of the town.

Where you stay
Just outside the small village of Clanwillian, the pretty Cederberg Ridge Wilderness Lodge is located on a working citrus and wine farm overlooking the endless expanse of the Cederberg Wilderness Reserve. The lodge offers peace and relaxation as well as a variety of activities (some for a fee), such as hiking, mountain biking, stargazing, boat trips, farm tours and excursions to the rock paintings, wildflowers (seasonal) and the mountains. Amenities include a pool, a garden, a spa area (for a fee), a restaurant, a bar and a lounge. All 9 rooms have a bathroom/WC, air conditioning, minibar, tea/coffee making facilities and free WiFi. The suites also offer a fireplace and a viewing deck with outdoor shower.

Day 2: Cederberg
Today you will discover the diverse Cederberg Wilderness Area. In addition to countless interesting mountain formations and beautiful valleys, there are also an impressive number of rock paintings by the San, the indigenous people of South Africa. The mountain range offers 250 kilometers of hiking trails of varying distances and levels of difficulty, from leisurely strolls to extensive day hikes. There is definitely something suitable for everyone to experience the magnificent nature of this area. You then return to Clanwilliam.

Day 3: Wine Regions (approx. 220 km)
Today you’ll head to the beautiful wine region. First, you’ll visit Paarl, one of the three oldest European settlements in South Africa, surrounded by countless outstanding wineries. See the first-class quality for yourself during an extensive wine tasting. Afterward, you’ll visit the unique Babylonstoren farm, which is world-famous especially for its garden. You can explore the beautifully landscaped fruit and vegetable garden on your own, and ripe fruit can be picked straight from the tree to your heart’s content. The historic Cape Dutch farm buildings also house a coffee roastery, a gelateria, a bakery, a tasting room for the estate’s own wines, and a well-stocked farm shop with all kinds of products grown on the farm.

Your Stay
Nestled in the triangle between Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and Paarl, amidst beautiful countryside, lies the luxurious Babylonstoren estate, world-renowned for its magnificent gardens. The hotel suites and cottages are located in various buildings spread across the expansive grounds. Various restaurants invite you to enjoy lunch and dinner. Hotel guests can use the pool and, for an additional fee, the wellness area. The individual suites and cottages all feature a bathroom/toilet, air conditioning, a fireplace, a minibar, a TV, a safe, and tea/coffee-making facilities. The Two-Bedroom Cottages have two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom/toilet.

Day 4: Route 62 & Oudtshoorn (approx. 370 km)
Today you continue along the famous and scenically unique Route 62, the former connecting route between Port Elizabeth and Cape Town. This route exudes a certain Wild West atmosphere, hence the similarity in name to the legendary Route 66. Once you arrive in the ostrich capital of Oudtshoorn, you will get up close and personal with these large, flightless birds on an ostrich farm and learn many amazing details about the animals and their breeding on a very informative tour (English-speaking, guided tour with additional people). Your destination is a cozy lodge in Oudtshoorn.

Where you stay
The Rosenhof Country House in Oudtshoorn is a five-star hotel built in Victorian style around 1852 and recently restored for discerning guests who love the natural. Antique furniture and warm colors create a cozy ambience. The lovingly and impeccably landscaped garden with fountains, herbs and a large rose garden will tempt you to dream and is the ideal place for lovers. The wide terraces and lush greenery create a very romantic atmosphere. The Rosenhof offers haute cuisine that combines traditional South African cuisine with international influences. The property is also known for its wide selection of wines.

Day 5: Graaff-Reinet (approx. 320 km)
At dawn, you have the option (for a fee) of seeing a family of meerkats in the wild: At sunrise, you set off with an experienced guide in search of the meerkats of the Little Karoo and observe the cute predators as they start their day (English-speaking, carried out with additional persons).

After breakfast, you will discover the stalactite cave landscape of the Cango Caves on a guided tour (English-speaking, with additional persons). Numerous chambers of the huge cave system offer an impressive variety of enormous stalactite formations. Via Willowmore and Aberdeen you reach the fourth oldest town in South Africa: Graaff-Reinet. Founded in 1786, the town is rightly known as the jewel of the Karoo. A visit to the town is like walking through a living museum, as more than 200 buildings are listed as historical monuments. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Where you stay
In the heart of the city, the charming Drostdy Hotel impresses with a successful mix of Cape Dutch Victorian and typical Karoo architecture. The 48 rooms all have a bathroom with WC, telephone, safe, air conditioning and WiFi. The hotel's amenities include a lounge, a restaurant, three swimming pools in the middle of a beautiful garden, a small art gallery, a spa and a fitness room.

Day 6: Karoo semi-desert
Graaff-Reinet is surrounded by the approximately 16,000-hectare Camdeboo National Park. After a hearty breakfast, you will visit the "Valley of Desolation". The drive along the steep mountain road offers spectacular views of the wonderfully bizarre Karoo landscape. At the end of the road, several easy hiking trails lead to various viewpoints, and these views alone are worth the detour into the desert. Continue along a specially designed circuit through an area where zebras, buffalo and various species of antelope can also be found. Marvel at the unique Karoo with its grasses and succulents. Back in the city, you have the rest of the day at leisure. Take a walk through the town together with your tour guide or relax in the garden of your accommodation.

Day 7: Addo Elephant National Park (approx. 250 km)
Today’s destination is the malaria-free Addo Elephant National Park in the Eastern Cape, famous for its large herds of elephants, which gave the park its name. But Addo has much more to offer: thanks to land acquisitions, it now extends all the way to the coast and thus boasts of being the only “Big 7” national park that offers whale and shark sightings in addition to lions, buffalo, elephants, rhinos, and leopards. The luxurious Gorah Elephant Camp is located in a private concession in the heart of the national park. Here, you’ll take part in your first game drive in an open-air 4x4 vehicle in the afternoon (conducted in English, shared with other guests). Afterward, a delicious dinner awaits you at the lodge.

Your Stay
You’ll stay at the first-class Gorah Elephant Camp, located in a private concession in the heart of Addo National Park. Right next to the lodge is a natural waterhole that is regularly visited by elephants. The colonial-style Gorah Farmhouse serves as the lodge’s main building and transports you back to a bygone era. The eleven luxurious safari tents are all equipped with a bathroom/toilet, air conditioning, underfloor heating, a minibar, a safe, and a veranda. The lodge also offers its guests a pool, a lounge and veranda, an observation deck, a boma, and a library.

Day 8: On Safari
Today is all about African flora and fauna. On two guided game drives in the morning and afternoon, you’ll discover the diverse wildlife of Addo National Park from an open-air 4x4 (in English, conducted with other guests). The rest of the day, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the unique atmosphere of your lodge and the first-class cuisine. And it’s not uncommon to see herds of antelopes, zebras, and elephants passing by on their way to the popular waterhole right in front of the main building.

Day 9: Garden Route (approx. 330 km)
In the morning, you’ll go on a final game drive in an open-air 4x4 (English-speaking guide, shared with other guests) and then set off for the stunning coastline. Passing through varied landscapes, you’ll reach the lagoon town of Knysna, the heart of the Garden Route. At sunset, you’ll end the day with a leisurely boat tour on the lagoon (English-speaking guide, shared with other guests).

Where you stay
You will spend the night in the spacious and luxurious Kanonkop House. Make yourself comfortable on the large terrace and enjoy the fantastic view over the lagoon and the forests of Knysna. The 7 stylish rooms have en-suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor seating areas, minibar, TV, underfloor heating, safe and tea/coffee making facilities with Nespresso machine. The guest house offers a pool, sun deck, terrace, lounge and bar.

Day 10: Tsitsikamma National Park
Today you’ll visit Tsitsikamma National Park, which—with its hiking trails, beaches, and waterfalls—is part of the Garden Route National Park. First, you’ll stop for a quick visit to the Big Tree, a centuries-old yellowwood tree that stands over 40 meters tall. Afterward, you’ll visit the mouth of the Storms River. A leisurely, short hike takes you here to the famous Suspension Bridge, offering breathtaking views (access to the bridge may be closed due to weather conditions). In the afternoon, you’ll reach the beautiful Nature’s Valley, where you’ll have some time to relax on the secluded beaches or go for a hike before heading back to Knysna.

Day 11: Cape Agulhas & Hermanus (approx. 410 km)
Continue along the main N2 route between the Garden Route and Cape Town. After Swellendam, you head back towards the coast and reach Cape Agulhas, the southernmost point of the African continent. Cape Agulhas was first reached by Bartolomeu Diaz in 1488. Cabo das Agulhas is Portuguese for "Cape of Needles", presumably named by the sailors because of its numerous rocks and reefs. The meeting of different ocean currents often leads to high waves. For this reason and because of the reefs, the waters at Cape Agulhas are considered very dangerous. You reach the whale capital of Hermanus in the late afternoon.

Where you stay
The elegant The Marine is situated on the famous cliffs of Hermanus and the stunning view of Walker Bay is picturesquely framed by the mountainous landscape inland. The 40 luxurious rooms are individually decorated and feature en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning, underfloor heating, tea/coffee making facilities, telephone, TV, safe and minibar. The hotel offers a pool, lounge, garden and wellness (for a fee).

Day 12: Cape Town & Table Mountain (approx. 120 km)
In the morning, you have the option (for a fee) of taking part in a whale-watching boat trip (English-speaking, with additional people). This takes place during the whale season from June to November and gives you the chance to get very close to the large marine mammals.

We then continue along the coast to Cape Town, the Mother City. The spectacular Clarence Drive offers fantastic views of the Atlantic Ocean. Once in Cape Town, explore the city's sights. The colorful Bo-Kaap district hides a long history, the centrally located Company's Garden invites you to take a relaxing stroll amidst the hustle and bustle of the city and on Greenmarket Square you can store for all kinds of handicrafts and souvenirs. If the weather is good, you can of course visit Table Mountain, the city's landmark, and enjoy the fantastic view. If the cable car is closed, you can alternatively enjoy the view from the Cape Wheel Ferris wheel at the V&A Waterfront.

Where you stay
The historic Dock House Boutique Hotel & Spa originally served as the harbor master's private residence and welcomes its guests in an elegant ambience. Located directly on the V&A Waterfront, you can stay right in the heart of the city and still enjoy the tranquillity of the large garden away from the hustle and bustle. The seven luxurious rooms all have a bathroom/WC, balcony/terrace, air conditioning, satellite TV, minibar, tea/coffee station and a safe. Day 13: The Cape Peninsula
You set off on a day trip to the Cape Peninsula. First you stop in Muizenberg and marvel at the colorful little houses that can be found on every postcard. Continue along False Bay via Kalk Bay to Simon's Town, where you will visit the famous penguin colony. You then drive to the Cape of Good Hope National Park with the Cape of Good Hope and via Chapman's Peak Drive, one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the world, on to Hout Bay with its small fishing port. In the late afternoon you will arrive back in Cape Town, where you will say goodbye to your tour guide.

Day 14: Cape Town
This day in Cape Town is at your leisure. For example, take advantage of the good shopping opportunities or culinary offerings at the V&A Waterfront. The ferries to the former prison island of Robben Island also depart from here. Or stroll through the lively city center and the Company's Garden and visit one of the many museums located there.

Day 15: Goodbye South Africa
Your trip ends today and you will be taken to Cape Town airport by a driver from our transfer partner (English-speaking) to coincide with your return flight.
