DAY 1 TO DAY 3 (APPROX. 60 KM):

PAARL

You will receive your rental car on arrival at Cape Town Airport or at the agreed station. Paarl is one of the oldest settlements in the Cape Town hinterland. It lies on the banks of the Berg River, 132 meters above sea level. The area is not only spoiled by the climate, but also very fertile thanks to the soil. Various types of fruit and vegetables have therefore been grown here since settlement. Paarl is of course also one of the three major wine regions of the Western Cape, and wine lovers can discover exciting wine estates here and in the neighboring wine regions of Wellington and Swartland. Hiking enthusiasts will also get their money's worth in the Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve.

Brookdale Estate is spectacularly surrounded by the Klein Drakenstein Mountains. The estate offers a tasting room for wine tasting and a bistro run by chef Gary Coetzee. Overnight guests have exclusive use of a bar, pool, gym and spa (for a fee). The six suites have a bathroom/WC, air conditioning, minibar, TV, tea/coffee making facilities and free Wi-Fi. Your English-speaking wine expert will pick you up at your accommodation in the morning. You set off on a day trip to the beautiful Tulbagh wine region north of Paarl. The region around this pretty village is still an absolute insider tip in the South African wine world. The climate particularly favors light white wines from Colombard or Chenin Blanc, but noteworthy red wines such as Shiraz or Cabernet Sauvignon are also successfully cultivated.

You will visit various wineries to get to know the special features of this wine region. There will also be an olive oil tasting at Oakhurst Olive Farm. At Manley you will take part in a wine and chocolate pairing. Saronsberg is perfect for a light lunch (lunch optional). Krone is known for its Méthode Cap Classique sparkling wines. Lemberg offers the Hungarian white wine grape Hárslevelü. Depending on the time, there is also a flying visit to the historic Church Street or a local fruit farm. You will be dropped off at your accommodation in the afternoon.

Stellenbosch is the heart of South African wine production. Countless wine estates are lined up next to each other, and you can get to know South Africa's fine wines at one or two wine tastings. The scenically impressive mountain ranges offer unique hiking opportunities. The second oldest city in the country has a beautiful historic city center with many listed buildings in the Cape Dutch architectural style. Cafés, restaurants and boutiques invite you to stroll and linger. Thanks to the local university, Stellenbosch is a very lively and young city, despite its historical background.

The luxurious Lanzerac Hotel & SPA on the wine estate of the same name is located around ten minutes' drive outside Stellenbosch on the way to the beautiful Jonkershoek Valley. With roots dating back to the 17th century, discerning guests can now expect an elegant five-star country hotel. The 52 rooms offer a perfect balance of old-world charm and modern facilities. All rooms have a shower/WC with separate bathtub, air conditioning, minibar, safe, tea/coffee maker, TV and free Wi-Fi. The Classic Rooms are around 45 square meters in size. DAY 5 TO DAY 7 (APPROX. 20 KM):

FRANSCHHOEK

In contrast to lively Stellenbosch, Franschhoek is a more sedate place. The name Franschhoek means something like "French corner" or "French corner". The town was founded in 1688, when around 200 Huguenots who had emigrated from France settled in the area. The Huguenot Museum and the Huguenot Monument are reminders of Franschhoek's French origins. More than 45 wine estates along the Franschhoek Wine Route produce top-quality wines. Some of them produce in the centuries-old French tradition, while others use completely modern methods. Along the main street you will find many boutiques, cafés and bistros. The town is also famous for its top restaurants, which are on a par with European Michelin-starred cuisine, but are considerably more attractive in terms of price.

In the triangle between Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl in the middle of a beautiful landscape lies the luxurious Babylonstoren wine estate, which is world-famous for its magnificent gardens. The hotel suites and cottages are spread across the extensive grounds in different parts of the building. Various restaurants are available for lunch and dinner. Hotel guests can use the pool and, for an additional charge, the wellness area. The tour continues to the "whale capital" of South Africa, Hermanus. Here you have the best opportunities to watch whales from the coast between June and November. Of course, you can also take a boat trip out to sea to get even closer to the largest mammals on earth. But Hermanus also has a lot to offer outside the whale season in the South African summer. There are excellent beaches, great restaurants and the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, a unique nature reserve with typical fynbos vegetation and many hiking trails. Even winegrowing has now left its insider status here in the Coastal Region. Over 30 wineries have joined together in various wine routes, the best known of which is in the Hemel-En-Aarde Valley.

The Marine Hotel has been a guarantee for luxurious accommodation in Hermanus for over 100 years. It is definitely one of the most spectacular seaside hotels in South Africa. Centrally located in Hermanus directly on the famous Cliff Path, it offers discerning travelers everything they can expect from a five-star hotel. The Coastal Region on the south coast near Hermanus is probably the most up-and-coming wine-growing region in South Africa at the moment and has long since overcome its status as an insider tip. The Hemel-en-Aarde Valley is particularly noteworthy. The cooler and more humid coastal climate favors white grapes in particular, but red grapes such as Pinot Noir and Pinotage can also be found here.

You will visit three of the following wineries of your choice: The first possible stop is the Hamilton Russel Wine Estate, where you will take part in a cellar tour and taste the estate's own award-winning Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Continue to Bouchard Finlayson Winery for a tasting of their premium Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays and Sauvignon Blancs, followed by a light lunch (optional). Next on the program could be a premium wine tasting at the La Vierge winery. In addition to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, there are also some interesting white and red blends to taste here. The culinary finale would be the Wine & Chocolate Pairing at the Creation Wine Estate, which offers interesting red wines such as Merlot and Syrah in addition to white Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier.

The beautiful green Constantia Valley on the back of Table Mountain is home to the oldest wine estates in South Africa, dating back to 1682. Just a 15-minute drive from the center of Cape Town are world-famous and award-winning wine producers such as Steenberg, Klein Constantia, Groot Constantia, Buitenverwachting and Constantia Uitzicht. Another highlight is the world-famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Hiking enthusiasts will find some of the most beautiful hiking trails in the Mother City here. Constantia is ideal for travelers seeking peace and quiet, yet central enough to explore the highlights of Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula.

The Cellars Hohenort is situated in the historic Constantia Valley on the slopes of Table Mountain and is one of the Small Luxury Hotels Of The World. It offers a total of 51 luxurious rooms overlooking the world-famous gardens and vineyards. DAY 12: CAPE TOWN

You will have access to the airport lounge at your international departure airport in Johannesburg, Cape Town or Durban. The lounge offers free drinks, snacks, newspapers, TV, WiFi and washing and shower facilities (facilities may vary depending on the lounge). The following services are included in the price: unlimited free mileage, accident/theft insurance without excess (incl. damage to tires, roof, glass, underbody, oil pan, clutch), liability insurance up to 10 million euros, towing costs in the event of an accident, an additional driver, contract fee, local taxes and fees.

APPROXIMATE ADDITIONAL COSTS THAT ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE

Long-haul flights to Southern Africa in Economy Class cost from EUR 900, while prices can be well over EUR 1000 in the high season. Flights in Premium Economy Class are available from 1500 EUR, in Business Class flights cost from 2500 EUR (per person for outward and return flights). All prices are average values depending on the airline and season. The actual prices at a given time depend on the number of bookings and may vary. Early booking is recommended, especially in the high season.

A light lunch costs about 5 EUR (small salad, soup) to 8 EUR (pizza, pasta, burger) per person; dinner costs about 10 EUR (pizza, pasta, burger, large salad) to over 12 EUR (steak, fish) up to 22 EUR (three-course meal) per person. Coffee, tea, beer, or soft drinks cost about 1.70 EUR per cup or glass. Prices may vary up or down depending on the region or type of restaurant.
