ABOUT THIS TRIP

Come with us to the best wellness and pleasure resorts in the Cape and let yourself be pampered. Whether in the upmarket Cape Town suburb of Constantia, on the scenically unique Helshoogte Pass in the Winelands, in the endless expanses of the Little Karoo semi-desert or with great sea views in Hermanus: you will discover that this region is one of the most beautiful and varied in the world. We have hand-picked exclusive accommodation to suit this tour.

Our chauffeur-driven tours are the cheaper alternative to privately guided tours. They can also be started daily and are as individual as rental car trips, with the difference that you do not have to drive yourself. Private English-speaking transfers take you from station to station, where you take part in private German-speaking activities and excursions (with the exception of game viewing activities). Our chauffeur-driven tours can start from two people, but are also ideal for larger groups (e.g. families, friends) who want to keep to themselves. We are happy to modify this tour itinerary according to your individual wishes. Please contact us for your personal offer. We recommend starting this tour in the South African summer from September to April.

DAY 6 TO DAY 8:

FRANSCHHOEK

In contrast to lively Stellenbosch, Franschhoek is a more sedate place. The name Franschhoek means something like "French corner" or "French corner". The town was founded in 1688, when around 200 Huguenots who had emigrated from France settled in the area. The Huguenot Museum and the Huguenot Monument are reminders of Franschhoek's French origins. More than 45 wine estates along the Franschhoek Wine Route produce top-quality wines. Some of them produce in the centuries-old French tradition, while others use completely modern methods. Along the main street you will find many boutiques, cafés and bistros. The town is also famous for its top restaurants, which are on a par with European Michelin-starred cuisine, but are considerably more attractive in terms of price.

In the triangle between Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl in the middle of a beautiful landscape lies the luxurious Babylonstoren wine estate, which is world-famous for its magnificent gardens. The hotel suites and cottages are spread across the extensive grounds in different parts of the building. Various restaurants are available for lunch and dinner. Hotel guests can use the pool and, for an additional charge, the wellness area. DAY 6 TO DAY 8:

FRANSCHHOEK

OPTIONALLY UPGRADEABLE FROM 540 € PER PERSON

You travel to the famous wine regions of the Western Cape. Countless wine estates are lined up next to each other, so nothing stands in the way of a wine tasting or two. You drive to the heart of South African wine production and on to Franschhoek. More than 40 wine estates along the Franschhoek Wine Route produce top-quality wines. The name Franschhoek means something like "French angle" or "French corner". The village was founded in 1688, when around 200 Huguenots who had emigrated from France settled in the area. The Huguenot Museum and the Huguenot Monument are reminders of Franschhoek's French origins.

This exceptional wine estate and boutique hotel in the middle of the vineyards is just a five-minute drive from the small town center of Franschhoek. The Leeu and Mullineux families have joined forces to produce truly sensational wines, which can of course be tasted directly on site. The excellent La Petite Colombe restaurant is also located on the estate (early booking is essential). Hotel guests have access to a pool, wine tasting, a free shuttle to the village and, for an additional charge, a spa area. The individual suites all offer a bathroom/WC, air conditioning, TV, telephone, safe, tea/coffee maker, minibar and free Wi-Fi. The Classic Rooms are approximately 42 square meters in size. The Deluxe Rooms are approximately 55 square meters. The Studio Rooms are approximately 63 square meters in size and also offer a fireplace and a private terrace.

This service can be booked for an additional charge.

You will be picked up at your accommodation in the morning by your private English-speaking driver and wine expert. You set off on a day trip to the classic wine regions of Franschhoek. The "French Corner", as the place name translates, has remained true to its French tradition to this day. Grapes such as Pinot Noir, Merlot, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Vignonier dominate the vineyards.

You will visit three wine estates and take part in wine tastings to get a good overview of the famous Franschhoek wines. There will also be a nice lunch stop at one of the wine estates. If time permits, you can also make a stop at the small coffee roastery Terbodore. You will be dropped off at your accommodation again in the afternoon.

The cost of wine tasting is already included in the price. The costs for lunch, other drinks and a visit to the Terbodore coffee roastery (if desired) are not included in the price. Please note that not all wineries may be open on weekdays or at certain times of the year.

DAY 8 TO DAY 10:

MONTAGU SANBONA WILDLIFE RESERVE

The approximately 58,000-hectare Sanbona Wildlife Reserve is situated in the heart of the Little Karoo at the foot of the Warmwaterberg between Montagu and Barrydale off the famous Route 62. Sanbona offers you relaxation, luxury and safari in the realm of the Bushmen of South Africa. The name is made up of the word "San", as the Bushmen are called, and the word "bona" as a sign of the indigenous people's hope for this land, where they lived freely for thousands of years. This is because former farmland was converted into a reserve here in the 1990s and returned to nature. Now, for the first time in 200 years, lions and cheetahs can be seen living freely in the Klein Karoo in the game reserve. But with a bit of luck, you can also spot the other representatives of the Big Five and many other African wild animals here.

The luxurious Dwyka Tented Lodge is situated in a dry Karoo gorge and surrounded by impressive rock formations. The lodge offers a restaurant, a boma (traditional campfire dining area), a bar with fireplace and TV, a wine cellar, spa treatments for a fee and a souvenir store. The lodge's nine luxury tents are approximately 55 square meters in size and offer a bathroom with shower and free-standing bathtub, hairdryer, telephone, minibar, tea/coffee maker, safe, air conditioning, underfloor heating and a terrace with outdoor shower and private plunge pool.

For each overnight stay you take part in two guided game drives in an open off-road vehicle (English-speaking, participation with other people), which take place in the afternoon before dinner and in the morning before breakfast.

DAY 10 TO DAY 12:

HERMANUS

The tour continues to the "whale capital" of South Africa, Hermanus. Here you have the best opportunities to watch whales from the coast between June and November. Of course, you can also take a boat trip out to sea to get even closer to the largest mammals on earth. But Hermanus also has a lot to offer outside the whale season in the South African summer. There are excellent beaches, great restaurants and the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, a unique nature reserve with typical fynbos vegetation and many hiking trails. Even winegrowing has now left its insider status here in the Coastal Region. Over 30 wineries have joined together in various wine routes, the best known of which is in the Hemel-En-Aarde Valley.

The Marine Hotel has been a guarantee for luxurious accommodation in Hermanus for over 100 years. It is definitely one of the most spectacular seaside hotels in South Africa. Centrally located in Hermanus directly on the famous Cliff Path, it offers discerning travelers everything they can expect from a five-star hotel. The Marine has two restaurants, a lounge with bar, a spa area (for a fee), a beautiful garden with two pools and a designer boutique.
