Tour Vehicles

Toyota Urban Cruiser SUV or similar

The Toyota Urban Cruiser is a compact SUV and is used in many countries in Southern Africa for guided tours and transfers, provided that the majority of the route follows designated national and regional roads and only a few kilometers need to be driven off these roads to reach the nearest accommodation or attraction. It can accommodate two to three travelers, each with one standard-sized suitcase and one carry-on bag. Standard features include air conditioning and a radio/sound system.

Hyundai Staria or similar

The Hyundai Staria is the most commonly used minivan for guided tours and transfers in Southern Africa. It handles overland travel with ease, can handle even longer stretches of unpaved roads, and remains relatively maneuverable in city traffic. It comfortably seats four to seven passengers, each with one standard-sized suitcase and one carry-on bag. Other minivans of the same size include the VW Kombi and the Kia Carnival. Standard features include air conditioning and a radio/sound system with a microphone for announcements.

Toyota Quantum or similar

The Toyota Quantum is the classic choice among minibuses for guided tours and transfers in Southern Africa. It is used for both urban and intercity travel. The Toyota Quantum, which was developed specifically for Southern Africa, comes in two different sizes and comfortably seats eight to twelve passengers, each with one standard-sized suitcase and one carry-on bag. Features include air conditioning and a radio/sound system with a microphone for announcements.

Toyota Land Cruiser or similar

The Toyota Land Cruiser, an open-air off-road vehicle, is used exclusively for safari activities in national parks and private game reserves. It seats up to nine people in three rows of three. More exclusive tour operators usually leave the middle seats empty so that all six passengers can have an outside seat. Due to its open design, it can get quite chilly during game drives in the early morning and late evening, so appropriate clothing is recommended. Travelers with limited mobility can also sit in the front passenger seat.

Important Information

The type of vehicle used depends on the group size for your transfer, day trip, or tour. For privately guided tours or transfers, the group size corresponds to the number of travelers in your booking. For tours with additional participants, the group size corresponds to the total number of travelers booked. The list of vehicles shown here is not exhaustive.
